hehe, I started both those chants. I don't think it was THAT abititious!

Oh come on, trying to get the Arkells singing is pretty ambitious. How awesome would it have been to have all 3 stands singing in turn tho?!?  Grin

The problem is that - for years - we have been consistently inconsistent.  It would surprise none of us if the same team played against Oldham and had a dog of a game.  If Danny can get the lads performing at this level most of the time, we'll be OK.

While I wasn't at the game, I will add one comment regarding a player.  JP McGovern has had a cracking start to the season, by all accounts.  He showed so much promise when he first signed, and then drifted.  Now, he seems to have recaptured his form.  We need to keep him playing like this for the rest of the season now.  He could be a key player for us this year.

I wonder if Mark Morrison-Marshall got to pick up in the end.

That's two clean sheets in a row.

I think we didn't get two clean sheets until March last season !!

Great game, great atmosphere....

Overheard some Saints fans moaning like buggery whilst walking back to the car, general concensus was that if Kelvin Davis hadnt played it wouldnt have been unfair if we had scored 5!

Fair enough I thought, I bet Billy is still scratching his head this morning wondering how he didnt score at least one last night.

I take everything back I said about Jean-Francois, the guy's obviously a defensive collossus.... Ignoring the Gills debacle, thats only one conceded in 3, and that was a penalty.

Great performance. This is the midfield weve been looking for. But it only works if everyone keeps at it, 100%.

Our crossing was absolutely fantastic. Should have won 3-0. Their keeper played a blinder.

Lambert should have been sent off for the tackle on Lescinel. Their right winger did the worst feigning injury/get up again I have ever seen at a Swindon game (cheat!).

Every player gets a good review.

Fans have to remmember that just because Southampton brought 3000 fans and have spent money, it doesnt necessarily make them the best side in the league. Its a big crowd and its easy for our players to get up for it. On the flip side, they cant stand losing to us, but we were a far far superior side to them. Just saying that smaller teams like Leyton Orient, Colchester or Gills may well have good sides this year and fans have to patient sometimes.

We looked great last night.Like we did at the franchise last week.Just makes such a difference when the players really work hard for each other.Makes me feel proud of them when i see them play like that, instead of looking like they don't give a shit.

Southampton looked like a team that have come down and think they are too big for the league they are in.The petulance and whinging from them was very annoying. Also i have never seen supporters singing and making hand gestures for a substitute  Smiley

All in all good night. If we can keep putting in performances like that we will be fine this season.

I thought Paterson did the two footer on Lescinel? I could be wrong as anger took over - it was a terrible and needless challenge.

I was in the arkells as it was my kids first match and I thought she might be a bit overawed by taking her into the townend (where I usually sit).  It was pretty quiet.  Missed being in the TE.  And I couldn't swear.  That was tested when that right winger did his miraculous recovery.

Anyway.  Wank, fuck, shit, bollocks, cunt.

I feel better now.

A good performance all round, fortunately Lambert wasn't able to take advantage of Morrison's cock-up in the first half, but on another day we could have had 4 or 5 goals - some good goalkeeping by their guy.

Wilson's right though, it won't mean a thing if we don't carry on that level at Oldham. Any news on Morrison's apparent injury ?

i can't get over pardews comments on the saints official website.

Bossed in parts?
Had numerous scoring opertunities?
On top in the second half?
if you'd scored you could have won?

Pardew seriously you were watching a different game.
you had ONE chance where Morison cocked up and Lambert couldn't beat Lucas. that is all you had.

We had at least 3 goal line saves/stops. Your keeper simply kept the score down to one when it could so easily have been 3 or 4.

And for your fans to say there better than us and thinking we are one of the crap teams in this league? well it's another example of big club lower league syndrome. Leeds had it and look where they still are!

Good results and performance, Paynter should have got at least one but oh well we still won...

Lucas very good

ammankwaah played like usual, looked good coming forward
Lescinal did okay, good in the air and cleared his lines well
Morrison and Greer were solid at the back, apart from morrisons mistake in the first half which lambert amde a mess of

Mcgovern worked hard again like always, putting in great tackles, great corner to set the goal up, he is the key for set pieces
Timlin was good all round i though
Douglas won man of the match obviously for a reason
Mcnamee very good on the ball, put some good balls into the box, very good!
Paynter worked hard chasing up front again, should have scored at least one header, but good saves
Obedayi quick, sometimes had a dodgy first touch put was okay

Atmosphere was great also (townend)
