Thing is Walrus most of us have done things illegal or wrong.....the fact is you get judged when it goes tits up..thats life,a man may drive 100 times over the limit and never get caught...that dosnt mean the person who drives just once over the limit dosnt get punished if he gets caught....your post is shocking...as long as theres no harm done its ok?...and how does blokey learn his lesson?...and if the germans give 1 month bans to drink drivers they are more stupid, ignorant and arrogante than i know them to be anyway.

No...  that's not what I'm saying.  But obviously it is a far less serious crime if you don't hurt somebody.  By getting into a car over the limit you're increasing the likelihood of an accident, similar to if you carry a knife you are increasing the likelihood of you stabbing someone!  (If you get my drift)...

To be honest, when I was banned for drink driving some people viewed it as a more heinious crime than if I had mugged an old lady!  Yes, it's a serious crime, but it is not vindictive nor is it malicious - it is merely a mistake.  I learnt my lesson, but you don't need alcohol in your system to kill someone with a car.

I was hit on a roundabout by a drunk driver a few years back, car was a total write off and a dented a lamp post flying across the road.  Once I got out of the car I found the guy still sitting behind the wheel of his car and laughing.  To this day I still wish I'd thumped the twat.

Glad you're OK Bob.

Years ago, minding my own business taking a left turn near Newbury , when an Austin Maxi goes pissing by making me put on the anchors.  Just round the corner is a narrow bridge with a car going over it in the same direction as the still high speed Maxi, who tries to overtake on the bridge.  After a screeching sound of metal on rock the two cars are wedged solid.  Suffice it to say the Old Bill led away the Maxi driver who looked as pissed as a fart.  After some time, the now narrower at the front Maxi was shoved off the road just before the bridge.  The car that was on the bridge first looked like it had it's last trip being now narrower at the back, with some poor old geezer shaken and totally pissed off.  Had I been thirty seconds earlier my "Dagenham Dustbin" would have been history.  I bet the drunken bastard wasn't even banned.

It was more like 1983 than 1953, but they still made British cars then.
