I'd be amazed if he didn't one day be a Premier League player, not necessarily saying he'd be terribly good or indeed terribly bad, but he's not at his peak yet and will either, as Costanza said, get a move to a team after getting promotion, or reaching the PL via a promotion.
Hopefully however it plays out we'll see a return.

He's 27, he isn't a young player by any means anymore. BTW I didn't realise his departure from Town was post Di Canio, thought he left us long before then... However looking for stories regarding Flints sale led to a link to this story, them was the days! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21431252

I didn't realise he 'only' scored 4 goals for us too? Surely that's not right?

I see Sam has tweeted that 3 clubs are interested in signing Byrne from Wolves on a permanent contract as he doesn't feature in the new managers plans, I feel sorry for him as it does seem he hasn't been given much of a chance there.

Just seen that Wolves have bid £6M for our former loanee Chris Martin he certainly didn't look like a £6 million player when he was with us under Do Canio the transfer market is crazy shitloads spent on average players

He wouldn't have come here at all otherwise. I think as someone said, Paolo figured even an unfit Champ player could be decent in L2. Another lesson we had to pay for him to learn!

We were in Div 3 when Martin came.....not Div 4.

Given the crazy prices transfer fees this summer in the championship I think £6m is a reasonable price for a proven scorer

It's beyond reasonable, hence the swift rejection.
