I liked King, the situation off the pitch when he was here was dire. He brought in some excellent players and we played some good football under him. Looking back on that Play-Off season in 04, we really were punching above our weight with our budget.

He was a cunt. Should never have been given the job - either time. And a nasty misogynist prick too.

I totally agree, incapable of doing the job, didn't know how to talk to players or fans, arrogant self centred twat.

Like every other manager, even the truly great ones. Ask Alex Ferguson about Ralph Milne....... All players are a risk. You can't always blame the manager. Personally I thought Kingy did a good job considering what he had to put up with - quite possibly the worst period in the club's history in terms of financial problems and boardroom intrigue.

Mixed bag with King.
He bought us Super Sammy Parkin for next to nothing - that alone puts him above complete and utter cunt status.

The Andy King 'era' was very up and down, I think we're all agreed about that.
But...
2000-2005 was a very difficult period for the club off the pitch. So the fact that we finished 20th (00/01), 13th (01/02), 10th (02/03), 5th (03/04) and 12th (04/05) was a minor miracle. This is my view on the subject anyway.
Think my views are clouded by the fact that I started going on my own (aged 12) in 2000... and you tend to be less cynical when you're young! I just bloody loved going to football with my friends - even if it was Cambridge at home on a tuesday night in front of 3,800! Funny to think that we got more for the AFC wimbledon JPT game the other week.

As I remember it he came in when we were flying high at the top of League 2. He fucked us up by leaving though...... Good lower league manager though. Can't deny him that.

Macklin out on loan to Salisbury.
If only he had the same agent as Alan O'Brien...
