Adeloye scores for Partick having just come on as sub.  First touch against his old club.
Nice finish, too.

I thought he left in June

Mid September would be an odd time for a contract to run out.

Unless he was OOC in June & has been allowed to stay and train with Spurs whilst he found himself a new club - which maybe he has now?

Who knows & also who knows who at the club had interest him originally and whether they still work here (seems unlikely)

Seeing as we have 2 ball playing CBs plus Brewitt who isn’t that bad on the ball either, surely it makes sense to recruit someone similar. I never really bought into the ‘head it, boot it’ CB many seem to clamour for.
Flynn said pre game on Saturday he is looking for another CB who can pass a bit but who is strong in the air.

When I say I want a commanding CB that doesn't mean he has to be a head it boot it as you suggets, it just means he has to be able to head a ball away, be a threat at corners attacking, and be able to pass a ball 10 yards to a team mate, ala Shaun Taylor. It doesnt mean he has to be a hoof merchant.

Agreed. Having said that FBT was very dominant in the air on Saturday but an additional option is still needed.

Although he looked very ungainly and all arms & legs at times it's easy to forget that Shaun Taylor could play a bit as well.

Apparently when Hoddle signed him in July 91 Shaun said no coach in his 27 years had actually shown him how to pass a ball and how to control a ball.

Up there with THE best centre backs (certainly for bravery and heading ability) in the entire history of Swindon Town FC I would think and his partnership with Calderwood was probably the best CB pairing that I have seen in my 50 years following the Town.

Marginally Smiley

The only others that got close were Billy Tucker (he was a big lump head and hoof but did it well) and Jon Gittens for his absolute effort and defending ability.

Flint and McCormack was a cracking partnership as they had such different skill sets.

I'm old enough to have seen Burrows and Harland in their prime. That was a great partnership but Taylor and Calderwood not far off. Still think we may have stayed up if Calderwood had stayed
