He is far from the finished article but I'd have him over any forward player in our team if we were looking for someone to play wide.

We're not going to sign players like him unless their clubs are ready to move them on permanently now though. All the fans that complained about us developing other clubs players instead of our own have their wish.

Nostalgia bias. He was made to look halfway good during the best spell of an attackIng team (that almost didn’t make the playoffs) but there wasn’t that much to him.

It's a bias over what we have today - nobody that can play left sided of a front three with any degree of ability.  He is better than Shade by a long way.  I may be getting older, but I can remember one year ago.  I grumbled about Davison last season and I'd have had him over every one of our front men until Austin.

In terms of players in Div 4 in recent years -

Left side - Yates > Barry > Shade
Central - Austin > Yates > Davison > Jephcott
Right side - McKirdy (our version) > Isgrove > Wakeling (he may get better though)

All three central players are the bottom of our last three efforts at promotion - UNTIL, we signed Austin.

I am excluding Williams because he should be central, a number 10.

I like a few of them, but it's not a stretch to say it is the worst Div 4 team since Brown/Flitcroft, which was, historically, one of the worst Town teams ever (we've had some fucking shit Div 3 teams recently, but that is a league above, literally).

Brynn, Lavinier, Clatyton - would have them all in any season at this level.
Khan, Wakeling, FBT, Hutton - not going to knock them as signings, plenty to come or decent enough

Oh. and based on the two games, Austin signing is a blinder.

Sadly I don't think we get any compensation from that deal at all - not 100% sure though.

Signed by Oxford. Matt(y) Taylor released to division rivals Port Vale, who also have our 1st choice 'keeper - Jack Stevens, on loan. Some bizarre decisions and I wonder if Karl Robinson has fallen out with them, particularly Stevens. Most fans agree it's time for Robinson to go - he's had 4 seasons here I think and our squad has definitely reduced in quality over the last season or two. He's not built a solid squad in that time.

Yes, I noticed Matty Taylor had gone to Port Vale, which surprised me.
