Signing youth players or grooming?

I missed this news last week. What the fuck is going on?
We're paying £50k for a couple of school kids? We're poaching players from a Championship club? We've got a decent youth setup which is the envy of other clubs?
How is this possible? Is it a wind up?

Makes me laugh - one guy commenting on there reckons this'll sour relations between the clubs. He seems to think we've raided their youth team while they weren't looking and escaped with two players in the back of a van. If Plymouth really wanted to keep them they should have made an offer - Swindon did nothing wrong.

The figure of £50k has been plucked out of the air, the fee is going to a tribunal but apparently Byrne has exploited a loop hole in the contract system so we may not even pay a fee at all.

Is the Broomfield/Evans deal any different to the way we brought Tozer/Joyce/Morrison in without complaint?

Hmm, you're probably right although I'm sure Tozer wasn't released.

Is this to do with the Bosman ruling? If so, we'd have to pay a fee to cover the cost of their training and development at Plymouth thus far SO LONG AS they have been offered a new contract by Plymouth. If we got in there before Plymouth offered a contract we might get away without paying, but other than that I'm not sure how it'd work?

As far as i have heard these lads were offered a apprentiship with Plymouth but they chose to go to Swindon instead, Dan Evans is a centre back & they are both 16, Tozer, Joyce & Morrison were all released by Plymouth and were taken up to Swindon by Dave Burns..........get on Burnsie, Pejik bought a few lads down from up north with him and these boys were suplus to requirements, their loss our gain
