Next, Basil is trying to act the wine connoisseur to Mr Walt, boasting that, unlike him, “most of his guests wouldn’t know a Bordeaux from a claret”. Mr Walt points out that a Bordeaux is a claret, much to Basil’s surprise as he hasn’t a clue about wine.

never, ever, ever buy beaujolais - its vile insipid piss in my opinion.

sainsbury's had a very nice lussac st-emillion 2006 for about a fiver a while back - well worth looking out for, but since it improves with age its probably gone up to over a tenner in price since then.

Just my opinion, French reds are best avoided due to price. Australian reds are often excellent and represent much better value.

Beaujolais Nouveau is best avoided, don't understand why it's so popular.
