Perfection is not attainable

I dont think Cox likes to play as a lone striker but if by any chance DW wants to try him as one then fair play.

DW is trying to stem the flow of goals conceded I think by flooding the midfield but I dont think we have a decent defensive midfielder capable of playing the holding role well.

In your opinion....and thats fine...my opinion is hes too inconsistent,a dodgy temperament, and always whinging at his own team mates....oh and it looks like Wilson is siding with my opinion at the moment, and hes not a fan....but as i said i think he could be a big asset in the Fallon mould if he gets his head down,i really hope he does.

Paynter hasnt played for the last 4 games and we only managed to score 2 goals from open play. JPM against Yeovil and Peacock against Orient. That isnt enough clearly. In that time we've also scored two from Penalties (ok Smiths last one wasnt direct from it but not open enough to be classed as open play) and free tick from Timlin.

So with Paynter out of the team we score less goals from open play, Cox scores less goals but we do get more penalties!!!

If DW is going for a 4-5-1 and Allen is starting as has been suggested

Brez

Smith
Ifil
Kanyuka
Timlin

JPM
Easton
Peacock
Allen
McNamee

Cox

keep the midfield tight but in all truth the time to play 4-5-1 and grind out draws was two months ago, too late now we need wins.

If I had to pick the team

Brez

Smith
Ifil
Morrison
Kennedy

JPM
Easton
Peacock
McNamee

Cox
Paynter

Subs: Smith, Kanyuka, Pook, Macklin, Sturrock - so Macklin can come on when McNamee does nothing for an hour, again

DV, you would drop Timlin completely?
I'd put him back in the centre personally.

after the last two games I wouldnt have him at left back. I still think our best midfield two is Peacock and Easton as it was last season. They havent played many games together this season, so give them a few and see how it goes.

We seem to change the middle 4 of our team (2 CMs and 2CBs) every week and there is no set team. I know we get injures and stuff but we need to find the best 4 and stick to.

Infact if anything, i'd be tempted to drop McNamee and play Timlin left midfield because McNamee hasnt really done much since about August now.

I'd agree putting timlin back in the middle, and if it's going to be a middle three then timlin, easton and allen (if what's said is true). If it were me though I'd defo play Paynter and Cox.

I'd like to see Timlin played on the left of midfield, granted he wouldn't get forward as much as macca but he would help to make the midfield solid and be able to support the LB much better than Macca does.

If you use that midfield three and have Cox upfront, we'll have no height at all.

Considering the size of our squad, DW's options are severely limited.

Anyone who seriously rates Pook over Easton needs a brain scan.

They are obviously fucked in the head.

I'm fucked in the head then ... Easton has been total crap this season, you can't pick players on what they achieved last season, this season he has achieved nothing. Does not look a threat when going forward, can't tackle, doesn't seem to have an engine anymore.

Pook can't pass, can tackle, can get forward, has an engine. Not a good player saying that just below average really, but there again none of our central mids are any good, they would all struggle to get into a Conference side.

If we are going to win this game we need to attack, because we certainly cant defend.

I can't see any way that Timlin will play left back.  DW has only seen two games live, and he's been a total disaster both times.

Maybe Amankwaah in at left back then, as per the last 10 minutes on Tuesday.

Kennedy LB, Timlin LM.

That'd work for me.

Based on what I've seen this season then I'd pick Pook above Easton. Easton had a decent game Tuesday but has been largely anonymous this season. Pook had a purple patch of about 3 - 4 games where he was really impressive - he's not been very good recently. Pook always seems to be singled out for abuse when there have always been and currently are other more higher profile midfiedlers more worthy of the bile and invective he gets.
