Alan Arkin, actor, 89.

Worth a mention for Inspector Clouseau & John Yossarian in Catch-22.

One of my favourite authors who I wrote my dissertation about, Milan Kundera, dies aged 94.  Mainly of being old.

I was at school with a couple of actors from Grange Hill (Gripper Stebson, Helen Kelly & Trevor Cleaver) and have kept in touch with them via the socials and I also speak to Paula Ann Bland (Claire Scott) often and she has cancer too but currently in remission, and it was her told me about his passing yesterday.

BTW I love Wiki wormholes too Smiley

Is 'Gripper' from Swindon then? I saw him once back in the 80's walking down Milton Road and thought it was incredibly random. Not so much if he's from the town...

Maybe I  knew that and just forgot (happens more and more these days!) That's a great one to add to the Swindon Celebrity A List (as well as the other GH actors) along side Diana Dors, Billy Piper, Andy Partridge and all the other usual suspects.

I remember spotting Pogo Patterson (realise that's not his real name) walking down Leyton High Road towards Brisbane Road when we played them in the Cup in the early 90's... assumed he was an O's fan Hmmm

They are all way beyond my time, Helen Kelly & Trevor Cleaver is more my era! I never knew that Swindon had been such a hotbed of Grange Hill talent!

Grange Hill writer Phil Redmond held auditions at Hreod Burna 4 years in a row in the late 70s early 80s. No I did not audition myself.
