Wasn't Noel Gallagher a roadie for them when they played at the Oasis and that's how the band got the name?
Apparently. I worked at the Oasis then and worked on the set up for the gig. We(the Oasis staff) played football against the roadies after the set up. Sadly can't remember seeing Noel specifically. I remember we beat them though 👍

Inspiral Carpets Craig Gill - RIP

Shocking and sad.
Me and my mates saw the Inspirals a few times in 89-91 including the Oasis show.
Their singer was a Pox fan I believe but we didn't hold that against them.
They didn't make "great" records but they were a fabulous live band.
Craig was the youngest member by a long way and must've been a teenager when they headlined Reading Festival in 1990.
44 is no age

Another great band from that era.
Didn't  know they were into football though?
I'll forgive them,on the strength of "Vapour trail" alone  Smiley

Not a well known personality, but one of the Futcher brothers - Paul - has died, aged just 60.  Played for several northern teams, finishing up (I think) at Grimsby Town.

That is sad, twin brother of Ron. Not common for twin bros to both make it in English football. Their older bro Graham played a handful of games for Chester, where they came from, both Paul and Ron were best know at Luton.

Ron was a really handy centre forward in his day, Paul was a very strong centre back, both played for Man City and Luton.

Paul nearly made the England squad a few times in the late 70s early 80s, very under rated centre back.

I know Paul played against us quite a lot for Grimsby and Barnsley in the late 80s early 90s.

RIP

Checking up on Paul's record, it would appear that when he left Luton for Man City he became the most expensive defender in the country!!  To put that into context we got Vigs for more than the most expensive defender in his day!!

Lawyer and Revolutionary.

Big man from a small island - a sort of left wing Brexiteer who resisted perceived Yankee hegemony against the odds

Health and Education, 1, free enterprise 0 with the wider population in many ways better off than their Carribean counterparts

RIP and time to move on for the next generation of Cubans

Some were quite bizarre.
The exploding cigar for one and getting rid of the beard to discredit him!

Take the I of CIA for a more accurate acronym of C&A.

1 of them involved a woman employed by the CIA to get close to Castro and assassinate him but unfortunately fell in love with Castro and couldn't do it!
