Thought Smith should have punched it further or to the side, rather than dead centre and to the edge of the box. But the player should have been marked.

I'd say there's not much to choose between either of our keepers - both decent enough for this level, both have been badly exposed by our defence this season. You leave any keeper as exposed as Smith and Brez have been and they're going to make a higher proportion of mistakes than usual, simply because a) they've got more to do and b) they've got no faith in the guys in front of them. Although that applies the other way round as well. Bit of a vicious circle, but IMO the defence are far more at fault than either of the keepers.

And hertha's right about Brez - people keep seeing him through the rose-tinted specs of a two-month purple patch two years ago. He wasn't quite so purple (or rose-tinted) at Histon, Cheltenham, Forest away last seaso etc etc. Which doesn't mean he's a bad keeper - like I say, decent at this level. But he's not Jesus in a green shirt either like some seem to think

I like many thought Brez was a top class keeper a season ago before his injury, certainly has not produced that form this season.
Between the two keepers I would go for Brez all the same, but as stated earlier and also last week as well, we need a new keeper, no argument as far as I'm concerned.

I think that the actual punch was not the problem more the fact that a good keeper would have caught the bloody thing-Smith looked very dejected leaving the ground

He probably hears the phone in after the game. It's like the Emperors Clothes, apparently Smith ios utter dogshite and Brez is the best goalkeeper since Gordon Banks....

Until Brez get s in then it is roles reversed mate

Neither of the poor fuckers can win, which is understandable considering some of the cunts we have supporting us at the moment

The new manager will come in, prefer Brezovan who will then get injured or make a mistake - Smith will then come in and the cycle will continue...

There's no problem with the keepers, although i would say Brez is by far a better choice.
Defence looked better than it has done for weeks, mainly because Ifil was back...felt like he never left after that performance. Should defo be our captain...thourghly deserves it. aljofree needs to step down, not a leader anymore...need a fresh outlook on things.
I'm preety confident that the new manager will shake things up a bit and get us back on track for the season.

Come on you reds!!

I didn't watch this game but Aljofree was good enough in our last home game.

Ifil as captain? Clearly you've been on the beers!

Nah, he deserves it i think. A much better leader than Aljofree...and a commited player. He just came back into the side, and gave a great performance...as i said like he'd never been away. First time i'd seen our defence solid for a while.

And to clear up the beer thing, i'm not drunk! Smiley

Ifil did indeed put in a good performance for a player who's been out for as long as he has but he's no more a leader than I am a Nobel Prize astrophysicist. There is a reason why for years we've all been saying stuff like "Needs an arm round him", "Needs a leader/older head alongside him" etc etc

back in my day we used to support our players.

Smith is no better or worse than Brez. They are both off form. Smith didnt cost us the points today. Sure he could have done better but leaving a man un-marked is asking for trouble.

Aljofree and McGovern have both been playing well recently, so we all needed a new scape goat.

Ultimately Brez got dropped after keeping our only clean sheet of the season and since then Smith has bizarrely kept his place. Smith needs to be dropped after today not just for the goal but for his general performance. That pass along our backline in the 1st half which ifil just managed to bail us out on would of been more embarrassing than his Leeds mistake.
