I think he was just trying to show strength of character and also perhaps make the point that even when he was a (very successful) player there were times when fans slated him, but as a player and a manager you have to just get on and do the job as best you can.

What did you want him to do, burst into tears in the middle of the interview?

Fair point. If he were to say "every time a fan slags me off i die a little inside" i would be a little more worried

Not at all paul. All i wanted was to enjoy the games i watched and try and understand his tactics. Was just saying he had the backing of the people that mattered

I'm not sure what point Nalis is trying to make there. He says he was brought in to do a job and he hasn't done it. Does that mean he thinks he's been playing badly, or not putting the effort in?!

Interesting to see nalis say that as he was older he had a different relationship with malpas than the youngsters as he wasn't scared of him.
