The parents cannot be identified- why not?!! They should be.
The bloke living in the house is only going down for 14 years. He should get life. He should never be let out.

Its sickening how anyone can halm a defenceless 17 month year old boy.   Angry  Angry

Usually to protect other children involved e.g. if this pair of scrotes had other kids, so they cannot be identified and adversely affected by publicity surrounding the case

The reports on the national news yesterday were bad enough, but reading todays papers grafically

detail just what Baby P went through. It's so poignant that even after everything he went through,

Baby P attempted a smile. This article isn't for the fainthearted.....

As for the "professionals" involved and i use that term as loosely as possible, they shouldn't be allowed

anywhere near young childrens welfare ever again.

As a parent,it's the most wonderful thing that you ever achieve in life, but it brings responsibility that

some immediately take to,or grow into.

Have to agree AM - this is the same social services dept that allowed Victoria Climbie to be murdered, and they seem to have learnt nothing. I near threw my radio out the window in rage last night listening to some dickhead social worker attempting to defend them. That whole department should be turfed out top to bottom, anyone directly involved in this case should be sacked and never allowed to work in such a capacity again and those most culpable (the case worker and immediate supervisor) prosecuted for criminal negligence.

My missus deals with social workers through work, and she's says they really haven't got a clue. She says they're partly to blame.

Apparently the book on the Climbie case is a real eye opener and good read/

I don't see the point of putting a child on a High Risk Register. If there is any risk, take them in to care, don't put them on a fucking list and wait for them to become a statistic.

Thats the point. The Social workers haven't a clue. Its like they're wearing rose tinted specs all the time. My missus has seen crack addicts being allowed to take their baby home when clearly you can see they're not capable of looking after themselves let alone a new born baby. The worst thing about is that the parents don't even visit their child whilst its in hospital.

Yet conversely social workers have ripped families apart and caused untold misery to parents who have never harmed their children and would never even think of doing so.

It's not a job I would want.

Been there, unfortunately (my parents are foster carers, a claim of abuse was made against my dad by a special needs girl (falsely, I should add)). One of the worst nights of my life, waking everyone up as two social workers turned up in the dead of night to take both f. children away. As for this case, I've only heard about it briefly, as soon as I heard it and saw a mock up of the child on telly yesterday I distanced myself from it. Can't bear reading about these sorts of things.

I just can’t believe social services turn up so many times and do nothing.  My niece once had her 2 year daughter taken from her into foster care, 5 days before Christmas, on the word of one doctor. He thought she had cigarette burns when she in fact has eczema. Despite the mistake being acknowledged straight away (albeit grudgingly) my niece wasn’t re-united with her daughter until after Christmas and after a series of meetings seeing if she was a fit mother etc etc.

Yet reading that Times article and what that poor baby had to go through, and they still do fuck all and are only given a written warning, it's a fucking disgrace

Redtape, Human Rights, Political Correctness, Civil Servants. - All disgusting contributory factors caused by our stupid protectionist country, which in its infinite wisdom often ends up tying its own shoelaces together.

Working for the government is so far removed from a corporate environment it almost removes accountability. It's a service we all have to put up with and use, not a service we choose to use based on it's quality. And that, imao, is half the problem. No one is accountable, no one is sacked, the service resumes uninterrupted.
