I can see the point in sitting tight, waiting for other clubs to go tits up. The money is comming out of football, its more of a poisoned chalice.
But we cannot go down.
And its fucking boring waiting for the credit crunch to hit clubs other than West Ham.
Watching the scum struggle for loosening the purse strings is quite funny though.

At the time we interviewed MM. Lingy, Micky Adams and Dave Hockaday, Fitton stated that at least one wanted too much money.
That was more a case though of someone who at interview gave the impression he wanted to spend his way out of the division which Fitton has repeatedly and rightly said is not the way he wants to do it. Which doesn't mean money isn't there for quality signings that will provide a decent ROI (Cox, Macca) just that he's not prepared to go down the route that started us on the road to perdition in the first place. Rather he wanted someone who was prepared to work with what we've got, bring in a few quality additions, and bring through the youth players. Clearly Malpas was the one who at interview best fit that bill. It's not so much "the cheap option" as the "patiently building a sustainable success option". Whether he's changed his mind on either the strategy or his choice of candidate to implement it, I suspect we'll discover in the next few weeks

Well Adams is doing an ok job at Brighton...and hasnt spent big after all they beat Man City who have! For me the bit that is annoying is that MM being a top Quality defender, shouts out that we would be solid at the back, alas no. Hindsight is easy but a proven no nonsence manager would have been a good option.

The thing that winds me up the most is that Malpas constantly says in his press conferences -
"that same eleven won't start next week after a perfomance like that" "I'll have to look at the loan market to bring in some fresh faces to shake things up"
Well he doesnt bring in any 'fresh faces', the same eleven more or less start the following week and the results and performances stay the same.
All the while Cheltenham pick up players left right and centre in the loan market, Northampton bring in a couple of players, one of which, Karl Hawley, is scoring for fun. Hartlepool brought in another midfielder this week, as did Carlisle. Tranmere got yet another Liverpool youngster in and Oldham have signed up another two.
Why don't we? Is MM happy with his players, but just tells us differently? Or is it that he can't attract the players here?? The Scott Murray thing is a case in point, we tried to get him but he said he'd rather stay at City, suddenly a few weeks later he simply cannot wait to get up the M5 to join non-league-esque Cheltenham.
I know this has all been said many, many times, but I've blimin' angry - we are sinking fast and need a change NOW.
IMO sack Malpas and bring in Holloway in time for the Leicester game, in true ex-manager-returns-to-haunt-previous-club style, we're bound to win that one.....

Yeah I have and it could well be true - and that depresses me even more.

Pretty sure I read back at the start of the season that Malpas didn't ask for as much budget as Fitton thought he would have.

Just been swotting up on Malpas's managerial career on soccerbase.com -
Motherwell 18/5/06 - 1/6/07 44 Games 14 Won 22 Lost 8 Drawn Swindon 15/1/08 - Present 36 Games 11 Won 15 Lost 10 Drawn
Eerily, with 8 games played the difference between the two managerial jobs, he could well end up with a worse record that he had at Motherwell.
Not sure what I'm trying to show or say here, but wow, a worse record than he had at Motherwell......yawn...
