I once had the scary experience of being on an ace country road near Hastings. I was doing a pretty high speed, somewhere in excess of 125mph. I was flying down a long straight when from behind the bus coming towards me, and not too far in front of me, a Sierra decided he was overtaking.

He was suddenly in my lane and seemed likely to have a smash. I hit the breaks as hard as i could because the bloke was gonna try and make it. Within moments it was clear we gonna have a nasty one. I was caught in 2 minds, take the car off the road by going over a verge and through a hedge and at a speed sure to put us in hospital, or sit and hope. I stayed on the road, but my god, the car got around the coach with what was but a few metres at most, i swear i closed my eyes and braced for impact, but i doubt it because i still remember how close we were. I pulled over as soon as i could and me and my mate sat there and smoked a fuck load of fags and just shook with adrenaline. You can't buy that kind of experience; it still makes me tingle now. We were very fucking lucky.

Wasn't the last line of the film "quack, quack" when Rubber Duck was at the back of the bus, when everyone thought he was dead?

I'm gonna buy it on dvd now, brings back memories!!

I know those hills Leefer; I lived in Lymouth and Lynton for part of the eighties. . Your right to be scared of driving along there.  I had a restaurant at the bottom of Countisbury Hill, In about 85 a lorry driver and his son crashed through the trees down the hill having lost his brakes. They both died immediately. Ive often seen lorries blown over on the top during high winds. It seems ok for cars but I woul;d take a lorry round the other way.
