Leeds have offered £175k for Barnard, which makes the £100k Crawley are looking for seem very expensive.

Scored a hat-trick at Grays just before Christmas in the space of 4mins 13seconds - goal times were 2, 5 and 6.

Very good, but did he get taken off on the 7th minute or something?

Crawley Town manager Steve Evans has confirmed that Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson is the latest manager to make a move for young Reds hotshot striker Charlie Ademeno.

The Reds have already ‘rejected’ two offers for the lightning quick goal machine from two separate football league clubs and now the Wiltshire club are the latest to show a clear interest in the Reds youngster who set a Conference Premier record recently when he scored a hat-trick away at Grays Athletic in just 4 minutes and 12 seconds.

Speaking exclusively to www.crawleytownfc.com Steve said; “Yes I can confirm that a media report circulating in Wiltshire this morning is accurate in that Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson has been talking to me for a few days now in relation to our young striker Charlie Ademeno.

“Danny Wilson put a proposal to me for Charlie but that was rejected after I consulted with my bosses. Danny and myself have spoken a number of times since and its now at the point that I must now be on speed dial on Danny Wilson’s mobile phone.

“On a serious note Danny has confirmed he will be back to me after he has had time to discuss this further with his chairman; whether this leads to an increased offer is not for me to guess.

“There is no doubt that Swindon Town fancy the boy but then again it is no surprise given his talent. We are certainly not being greedy with our valuation of the boy and any offer that we receive will get our full consideration.

“Any deal obviously has to be right for Crawley Town Football Club and the bidding club but more importantly for young Charlie himself. Until such times as an agreement is reached we will all go about our work as normal.

“I have known Danny Wilson for a long time now and he has conducted his business on behalf of Swindon Town Football Club in a very professional way, this is nothing I would not expect from the man I know well.”

Sounds like the scum up the road was after him aswell, maybe they want real hard cash and none of this add on clause stuff.I would imagine our bid was quite below what they want and more than likely contained add ons if he done well.

'' The latest situation is that there has been a number of clubs enquire about the lad since the transfer window opened.  However as yet no club has reached the valuation we have placed on him''.

''The favourites to win the Blue Square Premier, a Scottish Premier League team and a three separate clubs at the top end of Coca-Cola League 1 have all declared an interest. Each of those club managers have all had a number of conversations with me but they have each been told that until our valuation has to be met the young lad stays here at Crawley Town Football Club - as a manager that would suit be me nicely''.

'' He is without doubt a special talent who when the time is right will go onto much better things in football. He is a dedicated young man to his football and family. He has blistering pace, great movement and loves scoring goals, great ingredients if you are a striker''.

Could be what we need really. We lack pace upfront. Another non-league Charlie. Yay.

6 months left on his contract and Southend putting about statements about the HMRC.

He's worth very little, 17 goals or not.

More arent in for him because he isnt that good.

Millwall, Southampton, Leeds, Coventry and of course Huddersfield have all been linked with him. He will probably go for more than 175k but not much more. 250k at the most.

Dont agree Dave..i think hes a very good player...how long is left on Austins contract?...and Beckford?...not long..that dosnt mean to say they will be sold on the cheap...the same applies to Barnard...i take your point about Southend being in financial strife and like you say that could force there hand a little.

On Ademeno, Charlie otherwise known as Charles
he's 21, started at Sarfend, presumably on their youth books, was loaned out for most of that time (2005 to 2009) to various non-league BSP types and was finally released by the Shrimpers in May last year.
Total appearances 2005 to 2009 something like 23.

Something is bit wrong here, then, no?
I've heard he is injury-prone, which would figure, so does his current record with Crawley make him worth 6-figure fee just because other clubs are after him?

Agree though that we do need a 4th striker and that he could be one for the future, but wonder whether we should really dig out too much cash for him.

The answer for me, as I've mentioned is no. I don't think his career statistics justify £100,000.

The club are looking in the right place but I don't think Ademano is the man.

Having failed to lure Charles Ademeno to The County Ground, Danny Wilson will turn his attention towards Salisbury's goal–machine Matt Tubbs.

Ademeno will sign for Brentford.
