Perfection is not attainable

« Reply #1980 on: Thursday, July 30, 2009, 11:10:29 »

I have heard rumours that the fee mentioned has been from £500k to £1.2million, high fees and not sure if hes worth that amount IMO, £250k possibly but 500+....no I don't think so.

But

If he was available at the lower fee and willing to move down south then go for it.

I feel despite my earlier post that now Sven or Donny must be favourites for his signature.

Well if Donny sign Sharp then maybe we should go for Heffernan at Donny, might be surplus to requirements, been injured and not in favour much any more...worth a go I recon.

Oh...and hes Irish so will fit in well with the new signings Cheesy

Sheffield United in talks to sign Lita, which must make Sharp even more available. Still can't see him coming here.

Brighton have confirmed their interest in Sharp. If they can afford him surely we're in with a shout aswell?

Surely they can't afford the transfer fee. Lets be serious, Sheff United are going to want at least 500k for him.

You never know, he hasn't really done it in the championship so league one may be where he ends up. At 23 i'd of thought we could push the boat out for him as we could still get a return and probably a profit. Guess it depends on what sort of deal they need. Lets hope we dont blow money on this Seye lad and watch this guy go to Brighton

Brighton have got a minted new owner, bit like Uddersfield, they're going to push the boat out this season.

I'd imagine that Sharp would like to stay up north and that would be his first option.
Brighton are probably trying to cover the Glenn Murray situation, because he hasn't
settled, wants to return up north to be with his wife and young child and has asked
for a transfer. If they can persuade Murray to stay, add another striker, they'll be in
with a chance next season.

Rather be pushed out on a boat in Brighton, Uddersfield is nowhere near the sea.

Its guaranteed league one goals, depends what the club is willing to spend i guess. No blame if have not got the money.

I don't get why we are not picking up the next Cox/Parkin/Thorne/Finney/Hay, ie a reserve/youth player from a club in the top two divisions, who will at least have more pedigree than these trialists, and our mangement team will trust people who have seen them play. Seems to me they where our most prolific strikers over the past 10-14 years unless we have bought established players like Onoura, Allison. Surely Man City have several that they dont need now?

Probably purely down to money. The amounts some young Premiership professionals are on is quite silly.

I don't honestly believe Billy Sharp will be a Swindon player, be it permanently or on a loan basis. Purely on the basis that if (as rumoured) Doncaster and Barnsley are interested, being a Northern lad, he'll ideally want to stay in the area. Now we've officially been linked, Huddersfield will bid purely to piss us off. Notts County may offer serious wonga, but frankly why go to L2 if Championship clubs are interested?

I'd be very disappointed if he went to Brighton or Notts County instead of us, but not entirely surprised. I expect him to stay in the Championship though.
