Wouldnt sell Smith as ‘the money would only last a couple of months and cant replace him.
Bid for Ameen comes in after he gets injured which is less than what the offer for Smith was
SELL SELL SELL
Now all of a sudden he is hoping to use this money to buy a CB and Striker?
Is that right?

I think Smith injury has forced our hand with Ameen but at least we have managed to get an offer that is far better than the initial few offers. It seemed like Ameen was being frozen out anyway so I saw this coming. It will be interesting to see how we adapt to losing Smith; I suspect it may take a while.

The Smith injury shouldnt have forced our hand though. They should have a back up forward capable of playing that role, which Holloway deliberately avoided. Imagine if this happened in a months time? What would they have done? Its just poor squad design and planning.

They will probably try and sign Kyle Hudlin because he is tall

He made a reasonable point that anyone coming in would probably be on the bench if Smith was fit. That's a hard sell

Don't underestimate the benefit of a deal that includes future sell ons to the owner of the football club when it comes to time to negotiate an exit. I forget the player, but this was one of Powers original plays, trying to get a % of any sell on if he sold the club, plus he managed to benefit from the Ritchie one, personally. I'd imagine such deals are very well received for our ownership group/interested parties as a way of getting future income - much better than cash now of a smaller value that will get eaten up by the day to day operations of an annoying football club.

Sadly I agree. The much touted early assembly of a squad looks to be unbalanced now that we have injuries and are without our key asset. As some have said, it’s remarkable how quickly the bubble of early season positivity has burst.

So? He has 4 forwards on the bench every game and most games they are all on the pitch! The 'finishers' as Holloway has just discovered a rugby term from years ago. Thats the point of a squad. I just think if you are carrying 8 forwards, not having one you can play instead of Smith for a prolonged period suggests your recruitment is wrong.

Tafazolli sounds like a proper scraping of the barrel signing.
Yes, but he hasn't got any E's in his name.

Even if he did, we could pick the two EEs from Botans' shirts and stick them on with a bit of plumbers mait

I agree. But to put this into context, when in the past 5 years have we had adequate cover in any position? We’ve not just been reliant on our starters staying fit, we’ve been reliant on players with a chequered injury history being fit! James Ball is the latest example.

I’m not even sure Billy Bodin will be able to stay fit.

He's got to get fit first hasn't he?

Exactly that😁 Is there a media blackout as haven’t seen anything about tomorrow’s game.
