Even Power took them to Tenerife for warm weather training mid season when Cooper was manager!

Clem idea of abroad is Eastleigh
Power for all of his many many flaws knew basically how to run a football club, putting money towards staffing, playing budget and looking after the players as a priority.

How he got that money is a totally different matter, but he knew where to invest the money to get the most out of the club and players.

I wonder if we have any contractual obligations hence playing the same teams in pre-season.

Webbs Wood are a sponsor - don't know if Supermarine still help us out training wsie when the weather gets bad, ditto Melksham. No idea on Eastleigh and Chippenham was just easy Smiley

Power paid for Wellens (19/20) to go to Spain aswell, we did pretty well that season.

The team Westley is close to joining has been named as Dundee
Sounds like a permanent deal too, makes more sense for him that.

Good for him to go and start somewhere and make a career. I could imagine he would score a few up there but I said the same about James Collins!

Dundee journo’s saying it’s a 3 year deal, absolute no brainer to chose that move over 20/30 mins here and there with the odd start once a month.

A training camp that was funded by Clem? that will never ever happen, our budget stretched to a training camp at the Cotswold Water Park it seems and games vs very local opposition to save costs.

The days of a Spanish get together and tough training camp and playing a few games in the heat are long gone which is a shame as i see that more beneficial than playing behind closed doors friendly matches against a Swansea under 21 or equivalent.

Great move for the lad! He would have been wasted here getting little minutes. He's not what we need right now and we're not what he needs.

Although I'm not sure that Dundee is what anyone needs....

I applied to university there but thankfully got into my first choice!

I am in Dundee for a week from Monday so will pop in and say hello to him Smiley TBH Dundee is not the nicest place in Scotland to live but there are a lot of smaller town close by that lovely.

I think most clubs play local non league teams in pre season (and use a mix squad not always their 1st team), its to help out the smaller local clubs, but then they organise games again bigger and better opposition also.

It has to be down to laziness surely, not sure who would be responsible for organising games for pre season, we have not had a decent pre season for a number of years, it cant help the players playing teams way below their level, and also the manager to be able test his players again decent opposition and see their strengths and weaknesses

Or were the lack of home games something to do with the stewarding costs and the lack of safety certificate too?

Chicken and egg really, I imagine knowing we didn't have home friendlies made them complacent on getting the safety stuff sorted earlier.
