Fairly happy with deadline day stuff, we got 2 players in each position and got in some more experience rather than just a couple of kids on loan as we normally do.

Went pretty much as expected barring Uwakwe leaving which fell through late on.

We still have Glatzel and McGurk too, at least until January.

Sam in the Moonraker perhaps unsurprisingly suggests that the club upped the season budget significantly in the last week of the window. It certainly looks that way, interesting to see what comes of it.

Think important to note that it mentioned significantly compared to the budget which was reported to be lower half of the league. So as harsh as this sounds, that injection is just moving us closer to where we should actually be.

So,
Possibly Town missed out on a proven successful partnership at the club in Dan Kemp and Jake Young because of a below par financial playing budget that needed to be adjusted in the final days of the transfer window.
Morfuni, you really do need to get some help and assistance to get any credit back at STFC.

Or maybe kemp and young are at the stage of their careers where they want to be in league 1? I’m happy with what we’ve got.

Yes there was no way Kemp or Young were going to end up back in L2 this season.

Not sure I am happy about the players we have signed yet as I havent seen them play for us, but they could be amazing signings that ignite our season.

Changing the subject to L1, Jay Stansfield going to Birmingham for £15m and a £16k per week pay packet is utterly ridiculous....moan finished.

I just don't see how Birmingham can be spending money like that whilst meeting FFP rules.

For the first season relegated the SCMP rules from the Championship apply to them still, if they dont gain promotion then they will have to follow L1 SCMP limits, so its a free hit this season, much as Wrexham was last season after promotion.

Hardly a competitive budget in the first place if they have had to significantly inject more cash in then

Well if I’m negotiating and have£100 to spend I probably wouldn’t offer my full budget until near the end of the negotiation- that’s sort of how it works. Same with morshead - they will have told him they have a lowish budget why? Because it suits the negotiation.

The club went to great lengths to explain they threw the kitchen sink at the Kemp deal but he chose to play in L1. Personally, I believe that to be true.

Perhaps off field STFC politics got in the way of the
Player being completely comfortable enough to stay.

If you get a higher league offer that presumably roughly matched ours why wouldn't you take it.

If I were CT I'd say it's more likely the club have bid knowing there's no way the player would accept.

Our failure with Kemp and Young was at the start of last season when we could have signed them on a perm for relative peanuts, they would have been sold this season but even so.

That failure clearly sits with Clem as we were in an embargo that was created by another one of his admin errors, so at least it's clear who is to blame, but everyone makes mistakes, you just need to change your mindset.
