Look at all these rumours!
I'm really hoping the next CB will be a taller more physical and preferably experienced played, though seems unlikely to be Edwards.

Tariq Uwakwe was part of Jody Morris’ all conquering youth team at Chelsea. Let’s hope he doesn’t ring him up for the lowdown on STFC!

It’s bizarre this whole Edwards deal as at least two people on here said the deal was done. I can only assume as others have said that he’ll end up at a L1 club. It’ll be nice to be proved wrong but his pace worries the hell out of me.

I remember 1 on here saying “Edwards done” and someone else saying the same alongside “OGM” To quote Jan’s summing up Flynn will bring in 2 CBs and a LWB ideally by end of week. Would be lovely to have a couple more signings today. I wonder if anyone on here can shed light if Edwards was ever training with us?

I guess when you play in a back 3 you can afford to have 1 'slow' CB if your other 2 are no slouches. UGM has been described as 'fast' and FBT is no slouch. You've also got the advantage of having him being commanding in the air, often that's been lacking with us in the past.

Timmy Parkin was one of the best centre backs I've ever seen play for us. He was slow as fcuk but it didn't matter because no one ever got past him.
Edit:back to those rumours....

Your namesake as well wasn't exactly blessed with sprinting ability.

Height is generally an indicator of aerial ability, as pace is for preventing players getting beyond you. But there are exceptions and alternatives. Just look at good old Alan McCormack for us who played as one of 2 CB's (not even in a back 3) and had neither pace nor height! However we have enough balance in the defence to carry a slower player there, hell Brewitt is pretty slow! Timmy Parkin was one of the best centre backs I've ever seen play for us. Slightly different days there OST, not sure that style of defending would be acceptable these days.

This is just a rehash of the story mentioned yesterday. 2yr makes sense when signing young players of course. And yes it seems he is very flexible, so covers what was lost from Lavs and even Iandolo.

I wonder why the signing hasn’t been announced by the club though

Can't be accurate. We don't give out our contract length details.
I think a Nigerian journalist has just seen that article online and ran with it on a slow news day in Lagos.
