Louis would be to much of a risk sadly with his injury record

Depends what sort of deal he may be prepared to sign, wasn't his last injury at Portsmouth down to a shocking tackle rather than him being made of glass?

Correct. Played 38 games last season and almost every game since January after coming back from a broken leg this year caused by a horror tackle.

Matt Palmer was your classic 'modern nothing midfielder'. No idea what he brought to the table.
We’ll find out next season when we play Notts County. Looked good to me in their playoff matches this season. Also just noticed Will Randall has signed for County.

Yes a rumour!!!

Decent experience at this level and above, a good age for a keeper and at 6 foot 4 a very good size.

Seems like a decent move.

On the face of it seems a very sensible bit of recruiting. Had a very good spell at Newport under the manager.

However, luck has conspired to offer up a bit of a fluke option... Southend haven't paid their players and their stand out centre half, Kacper Lopata, has exercised his right to walk as a result: https://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/23362761.kacper-lopata-confirms-southend-united-departure/

Spreadsheet friendly age ( Wink), Polish U-21, 6ft 4, family based in Bristol and a Dave Hockaday link! https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/nostalgia/awkward-moments-makeshift-goalposts-and-hailed-by-ex-leeds-united-boss-the-making-of-sheffield-uniteds-latest-star-kacper-lopata-3342121

Read the comments from the Southend fans.

We should be going all out for this bloke if we are allowed to sign him, which I guess we are if he's taken this route out. Probably got a club lined up, so let's hope it is us!

Signed for Barnsley today after a few months at Woking.

When was the last time we started the season with an experienced number 1?

Off the top of my head over the last few years we’ve had Brynn, Wollocott, Kovar, Benda… who have I missed?

Looks a real prospect. Hey ho, what's Olly Lancashire up to?

Technically the Benda season we started with McCormick as number 1 I think unless I’ve made that up in my head

That’s right, Benda’s first game was in the pizza cup after the league had started from

I think the last over 25 keeper to play most league games for us might well be David Lucas.

22/23 - Brynn
21/22 - Wollacott
20/21 - Six keepers, but Kovar played most. Camp qualifies but played 11 games
19/20 - Benda (McCormick 12)
18/19 - Vigs (McCormick 17)
17/18 - Vigs/Charles-Cook
16/17 - Vigs
15/16 - Vigs
14/15 - Wes
13/14 - Wes
12/13 - Wes
11/12 - Wes
10/11 - Lucas (20) and Phil Smith (26)

So Lucas and Smith thirteen seasons ago. Wild run really.
