Have a feeling we will go for Matt Stevens from FGR, injury prone and previous target, played for Flynn on loan at Walsall.

Never impressed me much in his 5 games vs Town for FGR and Walsall though. I think he is OOC in the Summer and Ferguson doesnt seem keen to keep him.

Another one who you'd think might be making eyes at Wrexham. Think he'll do well in L2, but I'm not sure I'd want both him and Austin here.

Danny Johnson I'd imagine might be on the shopping list if money allows.

He is OOC in the Summer so wouldnt be extravagant in wage terms, did well at Walsall on loan but less so at his parent club Mansfield. Could do worse.

Newport forum (obviously) linking Priestley Farquharson and club captain Mickey Demetriou with us. I would be happy with both TBH.

No disrespect to Jephcott as he has basically wasted a year here being played out of position, but I would suspect Wrexham would be looking higher than that.

I'd say Mansfield won't take up that option but I imagine given he got 12 goals in his spell at Walsall this season he'll be highly in demand.

Priestley Farquharson sounds like an antiques shop on the outskirts of Harrogate, but is a 26 year old 6ft 3 centre back. One Newport fan stated he could potentially play league 1 so that would be a good coup if we could get him.

Demetrious is 33 and I think is a left sided defender. At 6ft 2 offers good height also. Out of contract at Newport and played over 250 times for them. Would certainly offer much needed experience at this level.

Priestley Tyler H. Farquharson - doesn't he play mandolin for Mumford and Sons?

Johnson did indeed score 12 by Christmas for Walsall but then only scored 1 goal in 8 games when back at Mansfield, there will be suitors I am sure but if he enjoed his time under Flynn then hopefully we could have the upper hand.

The 2 Newport defenders have both impressed me when we have played against them, and if we are going with 3 CB's this season then we need more to be signed. Demetrious seems to have played more against us as a left back so could challenge FBT for a place, maybe even mix and match LB/LCB.

Not a rumour but more of a wish, looking at Plymouth's retain list and seeing Danny Mayor being released.
I would love to see him play in a Swindon shirt, I think we were after him with Wellens but he ended up going to Plymouth with his old Bury manager Ryan Lowe.
If Johnny Williams is to leave he could be a perfect replacement.

This.

This is two years ago... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55522436

Didn't realise he was a 'thing' really. Shame we couldn't really make our team work for him. Felt he always put a largely thankless shift in.

I do remember that at the time, around lockdown, he scored loads of goals. For whatever reason it just hasnt worked out for him since then, fell out of favour at Plymouth and then comes on loan and does very little under 2/3 different managers at Swindon. He needs a fresh start in a side that plays to his strengths.

Jeff Cott released by Plymouth.

He will finish up at Crawley. Saw Lindsey tapping him up at end of the game on Monday!
