Reed definitely - he was disinterested.
Macdonald never wowed me.
Gladwin slowed us down - as seen in the last 2 games when he didn’t start. But I think you're answering "could we have improved on these players" rather than "have we"? We've replaced Reed with Cain - early days, but looks promising We haven't replaced MacDonald We've replaced Gladwin with an 18 year-old loanee. It's not obviously promising. But as I said above, a goalscorer can turn a mediocre team into a promotion one, so the big signing is Austin (and Morris, hopefully!)

But do you mean weaker in quality or quantity?
I reckon we’re up on quality. both. mainly depth. but with caveats. Not seen enough of Cain yet, and the city lad is untried. To my mind I'm not convinced they replace Reed and Gladwin when injuries and suspensions kick in - but they could end up better. I did forget we still had iandolo mind. Cain may be a starter of course. in defence we now have a player (if fit) that gives us a better left sided option. I'm sure we tried, but not replacing MacDonald seems a 'mistake'. FBT is fine centrally, but we've already seen Brennan and Clayton go out with injuries along with the long term crocks. Minturn looks good but it's a tall ask to chuck him in for the run in. Up front we are obviously stronger. if we can keep Austin fit we'll have a chance. It's only my opinion. The proof will be on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see if Kadji gets an opportunity as can't see Bristol City loaning him to sit on the bench.

I suppose I view it as the prospective replacements can’t be worse than those they’re replacing.
If whoever replaces Gladwin gets caught in possession or loses it a few times a game without putting in a tackle then we’re no worse off.
Reed was a waste this season.

Disapointed that we couldnt get a deal done for Malachi Fagan-Walcott.
He is exactly the type of signing that we should be making if we are going the moneyball route.

Can’t understand why that went down to the wire. Could hardly have been a difficult one to sort.

I suppose I view it as the prospective replacements can’t be worse than those they’re replacing. You can't mean that, surely? Reed's been off form this season, but we know what he can do. Gladwin has been one of our best attacking outlets and won a pile of MoM votes. MacDonald has been disappointing, but still looked like part of our best defence (with Clayton and FBT at LB). I'm not saying you couldn't improve on them, but "can't be worse" is mad - there are worse players than all three in our squad today.

Its all subjective and personal opinion. The only truth will be on the pitch. For me Gladders is slow and frustrating and brilliant in varying measures. Some of his passing is superb. Some of it never gets off because he's caught in posession. Reed - honestly don't think he's been that much worse than Khan in recent weeks (Oldham aside, where Khan was a 9). But I do agree he's not up to last season's form. From what I saw of Citizen Cain he looked a neat and tidy ball player - didn't see enough to know whether he can do the breakup play that Reed did (that can go unnoticed). But I will say Reed was integeral to the team as things were. PS. Forgot Darcy too.

I think we are weaker than we were yesterday but for me that’s purely down to MacDonald going. However, we are stronger than where we were 3 or so weeks ago
Lindsey, Reed & Gladwin will be no loss.
Austin is a complete game changer. If for arguments sake the wage situation was get Gladwin & Reed out to pay for Austin - I’d have done it, all day long. Our best signing was done weeks ago and has already scored 3 in 2

An interesting way of looking at it. Yeah I guess so. I think its defence I am most worried about too. Its probably fine **if fit**

There's also the added bonus of a new highly rated manager coming in, who can hopefully get more out of the players currently here anyway.
Saying that, I would have liked to see a winger and another centre back join. Wonder what happened to the Spurs centre back.

But that’s applicable to every other club. At our level you can’t afford to have capable defenders not playing just in case your first choice gets injured. You make do and mend like everyone else.

I assume that the non league window is still open& if so, I'd expect some to go out to various teams.....did anyone other than MacDonald leave yesterday?
