yeah I agree

but even 'with connections' would we be doing the same?

would Chorley have found better with the same cash? We'll never know

Chorley worked miracles last season. We had a squad more than capable of automatic promotion last season. Like to think he woulda done even better this season…

As things stand, my assessment is we have a patchily put together squad.

Some good players (mostly the rollovers)
Some promising prospects - Darcy, Khan
Some pretty rough diamonds that are going to take a while to produce at the level we really need for right now - Shade, Hutton
Some where you have to wonder if the player put his photo on someone elses Top Trump card for the deck  Sandro was using - Adeloye, Harries

We also appear to have given Sandro a list of positions that had a portion torn off and possibly used by someone else as a tea cup coaster or something, because we've completely forgotten to recruit for some positions.

You would hope all the above is because four or five players were all in a car together being driven here by Harry Redknapp or something.

We are a first team, first choice, striker short.  Selling McKirdy would make that at least two.

on the data thing, bit early to judge.

Bit too simple to blame the results on the technique too.

I mean we could have 50p and a couple of 1980s opal fruits to spend. No system is going to find gems with that
I meant more Sandro specifically, something just doesn’t feel right about him to me. There will always be room for data as part of a balanced recruitment approach.

I think McKirdy leaving could well be a possibility.  I don’t think he really wants to go but doesn’t really see us doing anything this season.

Lewis will be gone too. I think we are looking to sign a keeper from Galway no idea who though.

Sandro's timing is terrible, he'd have worked so well under Hillier.

If Mckirdy goes with no straight replacement (unlikely as who other than us sells a 25 goal a season player for peanuts?) there are going to be some biiiiig questions asked about what the recruitment policy and plan for the season is. I feel sorry for Lyndsey as he's been thrown under the bus somewhat.

I think you're wrong about that. Don't kid yourself that players, especially at League 2 level, aren't always hopefull of going to a bigger team. Of course, if it all comes to nothing, they all "never wanted to leave anyway".

I am so going to regret getting dragged into this....

McKirdy has never scored 25 goals in a season in his career (barely scraped into double figures once bar last season) and as for peanuts do we know what sort of nuts he is being sold for, and do we know that Lindsey hasn't agreed and sanctioned the sale?

If he won't sign a new deal you have to sell. The club would be hammered equally if he walked for free at the end of the season. Get as much as we can now if he's decided he wants to leave and not interested in signing an extension.

My only hope is it gets done today if he's going, and we bring in two over before the deadline, rather than selling him last thing tomorrow evening and we end up a player short.

Using our advanced data analysis system, we have identified Tonton Zola Moukoko as the prolific striker we require

Much rather we took a punt on Belarusian striker Maxim Tsigalko to be honest.
