Got a good feeling about this one.

But I think I said the same thing about Kovar...

We did but the difference is that Kovar was totally untested in a 1st team scenario, Travers has played a Premier league game (even if it ended badly) he has played in the Championship and has 2 full international caps, not U20 and U19 level like Kovar. He has also been named in the last few Rep of Ireland squad selections even though not a 1st choice keeper.

Also he scored on his debut at Weymuff!

I have no idea where we are going and what we are doing. thought we'd go for a jobbing senior keeper to be honest.

I don't know what the finances allow, or even if they've contributed to things. I shouldn't think so but who knows...

still, suck it and see I suppose.

I read he played two premier league games, the first of which he kept a clean sheet, they beat Spurs and he was man of the match! Some very flashy saves on the youtube highlights

Yes you are right I missread it, he has played 3 times from Muff in the Premier League kept 1 clean sheet in a game they won but conceded a 3 and a 5 in the other 2 games which they lost.

Made 11 saves in the 3 games, 1 error leading to a goal, 68 successful passes, 9 accurate long passes, 21 goal kicks and 18 long throws.

And we all said nothing would happen during the transfer window ..........

Not everyone..  Soapy Tit Wank

Decent window so far, Paul Jewell is working his magic. If he wasn’t, what would he be doing otherwise? This is where he cuts his cloth! Thank god for Jewell because without him, we’d be signing jack shit!

Some signings work out, some don’t - it’s part of football and we all move on.

Sounds like Joe Fryer is being offered a contract. I wonder if the truth in all of this is that both Fryer and Kovar would have been off but Day got a better offer of actually playing on a weekly basis for Rovers and Travers was always coming in?

Items still on the shopping list: a tank like target man Striker and a winger that can run and cross. Would love an attacking central midfield that can tear defences apart with a deadly through ball in the locker but might be a stretch too far..

Keep the good vibes going!

I'm not trying to start an argument, but how do we know it's a good window so far?

we've brought players into a couple of areas we need to, but I've no idea if they're good or crap.

yeah, just like any player we sign before anyone points it out

I presume the thinking is the keeper must be better than Kovar and Thompson is better than Grounds.

Surely they can’t be worse.

Exactly that Audrey. And to think if Wellens was still here, he would have favoured Grounds over a fit Tom Broadbent. Kovar was improving but I'm not exactly crying about Kovar going back. The fact we're being proactive and addressing issues we have known over the recent months... Doing something about the issues is a massive positive IMO. Hopefully, it makes the difference. See what more happens between now and the end of the window but it's been a good start. Getting some business done early is always a major plus!

I think that we were in the situation where we HAD TO do something quickly. The defensive frailties have cost us a mid table position and left us very much staring relegation in the face.

The bit that concerns me now is that we are early in the window and we don't know what is going to happen with the rest of the squad. There was talk of the squad being on the large side and 10 bits of business to be conducted in the transfer window. Well so far we have:

1. Travers in
2. Kovar out
3. Thompson in
4. Stevens out
5. Palmer in
6. Twine in
7. Fryer in ?
8.?
9.?
10. ?

I wonder what will happen next?
