Bags of pennies and barge pole not touching with come to mind. Although maybe he's matured... going by his tweets maybe not.

However, a short term deal to EOS might work. Vigouroux would be better than what we have currently... ughh  Roll Eyes

If Vigouroux is an option i would take that all day long. Much better than what we currently have and would install confidence in our very shaky defence

An experienced Championship backup keeper will be on Ł4-5k a week. We can’t afford that.

Thinking more practically.. no one loans out their second choice keeper, so this assumes that championship clubs will have an experienced 3rd choice keeper they’d be happy to loan out. Does anyone actually fit this category?

Newport’s keeper went off injured at half time last week game so that theory might depend on how bad the injury is

Joe Day (ex Newport) has been told he can leave Cardiff.

Yes, we had two in Benda and McCormick last year! One went and we didn't offer the other an incentive to stay!

I'm interested to hear who the '10 changes' might be.

Out:                     In:
Kovar                   GK1
Fryer                    GK2
Stevens                Twine
M Smith                Palmer

That's 8, so the other 2 could be made up of departures of saleable assets because 'the squad is big':
- Grant (Think Wellens would love to have him in L2 again)
- Hunt (to Salford perhaps?)
- Fryers (Has looked good at times)
- DJ (Wright appeared exasperated with him)

Not sure the rest would get many suitors.
Possibly J Smith and T Smith loans to end prematurely, to be replaced by a box to box midfielder and a striker with a more physical presence.  Our current formation does not play to the strengths of any of our loanees, but cant see us sending Matt Smith back as we are short of midfield options, even with Palmer returning. If a fee is offered for DJ, then I am guessing we would look favourably at that, with Twine a direct replacement in his position.

Whatever changes are made, unless there is a marked improvement on Tuesday, it will be an irrelevance anyway.

Sounds like he intends having a good shake up,  and we all thought he'd keep his head down, could this be the turning point.

Most certainly not all.. Wink

Surely Palmer and Twine returning from their loans are not classified as a deal?
DJ has only just come back from injury and hasn't set enough of the world alight to be a sellable asset.. He's still got 2.5 years left on his contract.

He’s been very underwhelming since coming back. Flashes of brilliance leading to nothing.

That to me sounds like a player who might be doing better if he was paired differently.

He had a stinker (as did many) the other night and Wright was bemoaning the fact that the dressing room was quiet. Also that 'on their day' some of the players were good enough. But they had to show desire. If they just turned up and put in that level of performance then they wouldn't get a game for Swindon and noone would come in for them - They would be out of professional football. He then angrily said changes would be made and if Hope was available he would definitely play against Wigan.

I took that to mean that he was berating DJ - Hope fills the same position and DJ is quiet, blows hot and cold, has come from a bigger club and seems in a safe position with a long contract.

I agree, our only truly creative player, Payne has a few moments but in the main DJ is easily our best asset, consistancy will come with games and playing with better players around him, hes still young.

DJ has possibly the best close control and quick feet I have seen this century from any Town player and very few before him with the ball control he has got.

JJ was a bit shorter and stronger but he had similar close control, those sort of players are rare at this level though, I wouldnt sell him unless we got a stupidly silly bid, which won't happen.

Remember when Calderwood had a tussle with him in the home gain against Leicester the same season as the play of final!
He's probably one of those players that has to be liked by the manager to bet the best out of him and like you I hope we don't sell him as that would leave us with very few assests!

But that's the way we work.   Unfortunately as soon as any players show form and bids are made they are gone. The only hope we have is if the buying club allow us to keep the player on loan. This club will never change unless we get some multi millionaire chairman and I can't see that happening any time soon.
