I agree, it was the interview with a wounded animal straight after a game that he obviously wanted to win even if most fans weren't bothered, emotions were still still running high and he was straight out of the dressing room after bollocking the players.
Straight after a game you’re always likely to get bollocks, from managers or from players.
I’ll bet Wellens wanted to say “Ffs piss off and leave me alone.”  He’s human, after all, and I suspect that this is a high-pressure time for every club’s management team.
So far, recruitment hasn’t gone badly at all, but too many of the team are showing a real lack of fitness/sharpness, and I imagine RW is anything but happy about that.  We all need to take a couple of steps back and give the guy some breathing space.  I see no reason to worry too much - when all said and done this close season has been weird in the extreme.

No he didn't play and wasn't on the bench, very highly rated by WBA and very quick.

Agree with most of the above.  He was frustrated, pissed off and grumpy after a game we lost.  If he did that interview this morning he would probably say the same things but in a completely different manner.

I get pissed off and grumpy at work all of the time and come across in a way that I didn't intend, but I don't have a mic in my face and every word or nuance being dissected.  Now if the next few interviews (not straight after a defeat) come across in the same manner, then that is something we need to start taking note of.

Looks to me that Donny have already signed a loan player from Arsenal in the same position as this lad.

Might be a chance yet.

Yeah Red Dwarfs "the cat" is his uncle, he was on loan at Lincoln last season but didn't get much game time.

Wellens mentioned Tulloch by name in TOTT a few weeks ago.

Did he? I wonder why nobody on here picked up on that name, very highly rated at WBA and would explain why Wellens has been watching their U23s play a lot during pre season.

Still available. This, an hour ago from Donny.

‘Reports in the West Midlands earlier this week suggested that Rovers had won the race to secure the loan signing of the 19-year-old, who Moore knows well from his time at the Hawthorns.

But the Rovers boss insists nothing has been agreed with his former club over Tulloch.’

According to WBA fans he looks their best attacking prospect by a long way.

It all depends on whether Wellens will want to use his last loan for a striker, box to box midfielder or defensive cover I guess.

If he wants 4, he’s going to have to sign 3 on perms. Striker will cost the most, therefore, I reckon our final loan will be a striker.

I have been wrong before, like.

I have noticed that young defenders from Prem and Champ teams being loaned out are a far rarer beast than strikers and attacking midfielders.

Over the last 3 we have-

2018 we loaned in
DF Hussey, Menayese
MF Elsnik, Gordon, Banks, Anderson
ST Smith

2019 we loaned in
DF Koiki
MF Alzate, Carroll,
ST House, Robinson, Bennett

2020 we loaned in
GK Benda
DF Ballard, REG
MF May, Grant
ST Yates, DJ, Doyle, Muskwe

22 loans with only 5 being defenders and one of them never started a league game for us so really only 4 can be counted.

So basically 21 loanees of which 4 were defenders, 1 was a keeper, 8 classed as strikers/attackers and 8 midfielders.

Defenders account for 4 players in pretty much every game yet we often only play with just 2 strikers or even 1 at times, so the balance of loans of strikers to defenders seem unbalanced somewhat.

Was Ajose the last player - not youth - who we sold for money? We’ve got a poor record for generating funds this way lately.
