Fuck the chin, it’s the goals that matter.  Remember Wellens doesn’t want our No9 to move around too much - he’s just got to be there when the ball is played into the box.  Smiley

I would be very impressed with Pitman, as I said before his goals to start ratio even over the last 2 seasons has been excellent. He is exactly what we need IMO.
He looked extremely unfit and overweight from the photo's I saw last season so would be concerned about his condition after 6 months without a game.

Are you serious? His goal scoring record is outstanding.

Years          Team                  Apps      Goals
2005–2010.     Bournemouth.      173.      (59)
2010–2013.     Bristol City.          77.        (20)
2012.            Bournemouth (loan). 6          (3)
2013–2015.     Bournemouth.       88          (34)
2015–2017.    Ipswich Town.        61.        (14)
2017–2020.    Portsmouth.           81.       (37)

Get that. I’m almost annoyed at myself for being underwhelmed. I think it’s his recent record. Done nothing at this level the last two seasons.

Hope I’m wrong.

Perfect foil for DJ and the like to play off. Further cements my belief that Wellens knows exactly what he's trying to build.

Exciting for me.

Oh theres no doubt he won't be ready to play from the off, but we were considering giving a contract to a player who was 2 and a half year out of the game.

Pitman scored 4 goals last season in all comps but he only started 4 games, the rest were cameo appearances off the bench late in games.

The season before he scored 11 from 20 starts, with the other 12 appearances off the bench.

I know Pompeys fans who say he still has it and they love him, but had a huge falling out with Jackett after having an altercation with a ball boy on the play off vs Sunderland last season.

He’s not a professional athlete in that photo

My observation was basically that of theakston - he’s aging, recent photos don’t paint an overly flattering picture and he’s had limited game time in the last year which wasn’t due to injury (based on his departure article in the Pompey rag)

He’s clearly a striker of good pedigree for this division. Just hope he’s more Eoin Doyle than Tony Thorpe

Give RW some credit, he won’t sign Pitman if he’s totally out of shape and need months to get fit, so if it is him then it would be a decent signing.

You can’t argue with his career record, he knows where the back of the net is

That is a picture from his last full international game for Brazil, I think that can be called a professional.

Of course Pitman is old, but hes still almost exactly the same age as Doyle just 2 months apart, nobody would have been concerned if Doyle has signed again saying he was too old though.

32 is not really old, as for his fitness no one has a clue really....
