That shirt looks a rather peculiar shade of red?
I think its the reflective shine, as it looks almost pink in that pic.

Hope we’re paying him enough for him to invest in a new pair of jeans.

You did what I did then instantly regretted it.

Ah that's a bit better.

As he was released by Swansea I thought we couldn't sign him till his contract expired at end June?

The full quote from the club...

Quote
Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of right-back Tyler Reid following the end of his contract at Swansea City.

The deal comes into effect on 1st July and is subject to EFL approval and international clearance as well as the completion of a medical.

Reid joins on a two-year deal from the Swans where he was a part of a hugely successful Under-23 set-up – in his first season with the Welsh side’s second string he was an integral part of a fantastic league and cup double.

The young full-back was part of the academy process at Arsenal before moving to Manchester United at the age of 14 where he played in the same youth side as Marcus Rashford and worked under the stewardship of Nicky Butt.

After his move to the Swans, and impressive form with the Under-23s, Reid played three times for the first-team; once in the EFL Cup against Crystal Palace and twice in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The 21-year-old has experience in League Two having spent half a season at Newport County in 2017/18 as they finished 11th in the division.

Upon joining, Reid said:

“I can’t wait to get cracking. All I want to do is fight for first-team football. The place looks good and I’m ready for it to be my home.

“The Gaffer has said he wants to give me a chance and I’m ready to take it.”

Swindon boss, Richie Wellens said:

“I first came across Tyler when he was around 18 – I went into Manchester United to work under Paul McGuinness, who has got a great reputation for producing young players, and Tyler was one that we looked at and thought had real potential.

“He’s at a good age and is a permanent deal which is important to us, and he’s hungry. The deal, the financial stuff didn’t take too long because the kid just wanted to come and play and that was great.

We’ll give him a platform to go and show his ability."

From the Newport forum on him.

Quote
They obviously havent seen him play and are going on the fact that he was at a Premier League academy , then a Championship one when Swansea got relegated. IMO isnt good enough to be offered a two year contract at our level because he has proved nothing. A year maybe but two years is a huge gamble

Agreed - he's still young so you never know but if we had signed him I'd have been very underwhelmed!

Truth or sour grapes?

We will soon see.

Presumably we need 2 right backs so still room for Knoyle to sign.   It would be a gamble to go into a season with just 1 young right back......as we did last year!

I've a hunch that Reid is more of a development player and that we'll see another one coming in.

The adver seem to think Knoyle won't be signing, though.

Obviously many different factors contribute towards how a player performs. Team style, man management, feeling settled and happy etc.

All we can do is welcome him and wish him well.

Newport fan seems to have formed a strong opinion on 7 games for me. Don't see how it's a huge gamble either. He's not been brought in on huge wages to fire us into League 1.
