Perfection is not attainable

Connell was an average League 2 striker, he will be a lower than average League 1 striker IMO.

At times he struggled with the pace of the game and his finishing was very very average, as has been stated many times in the past on here. At least Williams has played a couple of seasons at the higher level and scored regularly so that proves he can do it.

Personally I would move Connell on to pastures new.

Andy Williams is 3 years younger than Connell, has pace and scored 16 goals in League 1 last season compaired to Connell who scored 11 in almost the same amount of games at a lower league level.

Its not rocket science who is likely to be the better player.

I agree with JJ. Though i doubt he will be moved on straight away. He'll probably end up 4th/5th choice forward. We'll sign two strikers i'm sure and with Benson that puts Connell out of the equation.

No news yet on mceveley? would be a very good LB to get in

I believe he is currently on holiday, he wanted to get the contract situation sorted out before his holiday but that was before Paolo had spoken to the board about funding etc, so when he returns off holiday I fully expect him to be tied down.

I still think Connell has something to offer to us, scored quite a few important goals for us last season.

I cant see him starting many games, but off the bench i think he will have an impact

Connell is a nice enough bloke, but I don't think he'll ever be good enough for league one.

Marc Richards has signed for Chesterfield where they are paying a reported 4-5k a week, makes Andy Williams on 5k a week sound more of a bargain

Why are we paying him half of what everyone else is on?

The Chesterfield games showed exactly Connell's limitations. The chance that Benson put back to him just a few yards out for his weird scissor-kick miss-hit was by far the best of the game. It wasn't tricky but Connell missed it - and the entire goal. For League One he would have to take those chances.

The only one thing I would say is did we see the best of him by having him in and out the team, and by substituting him after 20 minutes?

If all that had no effect on his confidence/ability then I find it hard to disagree with what you say.

I personally think Raffa De Vita is more vulnerable.

You could argue that at 5 years younger, Raffa has more potential.
