These(if true) are the sort of signings i love and show just how it is all down to opinions. We have had people leave the forum due to our managers political beliefs and others saying ah well he was young it's the way he was bought up.
Yet the same people will likely never take to someone like Knight as he is a horrible little cunt. For me personally it's about how a player/manager does for this club if they score goals or win us matches they can build a bonfire out of brand new mercs for all i give a fuck.

I can kind of see your point, but there isn't a direct example of that at this time. I think history shows Leon Knight would be a massive gamble. I think we've already taken a bit gamble with the manager - too much more and it could really cripple us (or turn out to be genius). I think Dave's point, with which I agreed, is that Knight has always been remembered as a cunt and suddenly that opinion has been lifted by a few. If I recall, not many people had an opinion of Di Canio before he was linked to us, or if they did it wasn't documented greatly.

I guess Knight sort of matches the description of one of the strikers to sign
The second striker that we want to bring in is a striker who has scored lots of goals in English football and can still score even more in my opinion
was always talented, but quite a gamble!!

Every signing is a bit of a gamble. It all depends how much we'd have to pay him - if he doesn't come with a big wage bill then I don't see it as a massive risk.

Perhaps not backtracking per sé, but a few people certainly appear to have changed their tune over the bloke very quickly

Seriously, I don't know anything about him. Heard his name though.
What's he done. Can't find much on google about him other than he's got an attitude problem but what exactly does that mean?
What's he done?

Don't get me wrong he is clearly a horrible little fucker but for me it's about goals and looking at his record until him and rushden fell out he scored goals.

It should be a bit more than that though. The last 'disruptive' striker people couldn't wait to get rid of and rightly so after that transfer request. Could do without that and more Michael Rose-esque Twitter outbursts.
January 2006 - Knight gets chucked off the team coach on the way to the game, in the middle of the New Forest. January 2006 - Signs for Swansea. October 2006 - Swansea transfer list Knight due to attitude problems. Loaned to Barnsley in November but deal not made permanent. Eventually signed by Franchise in January 2007. January 2008 - Signed by Wycombe for a undisclosed fee, as replacement for Jermaine Easter. Only lasts 7 months before contract is terminated by 'mutual consent'. August 2008 - Signs for Rushden & Diamonds but sacked 4 months later due to breaches of conduct. Apparently gets a bit shafted by the club and decides to play outside of England instead of paying £30,000 for his registration. Plays in Greece on a 6 month contract from January 2009. Doesn't do anything special. August 2009 - Plays for Hamilton Academical for 6 months but is released. Only thing he did in this time is get into a fight in a tunnel when the team played Hearts. September 2010 - Knight erupts on Twitter, or starts a volcano. Either way it wasn't pretty and it wasn't clever.
It was said in the papers that Knight was fined so often by one club, it equated to 5 months of pay. I know papers make shit up but that's some reputation.

History shows Leon Knight to be an utter prick. He had the talent, but they guy has a proven massive attitude problem with chips on both fingers. That's why he is in non-league football. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our dressing room for fear of it blowing up in our faces at a later date. Disruptive little twat. edit: Si Pie's post above illustrates the point beautifully. That said, we are jumping several guns here. He could be going anywhere. As long as it isn't here I don't care.

Come on Si we all know he is a wanker no one is denying that but who knows he may have changed,I doubt he has to be fair but i would imagine he is one of the trialists so if it's true lets see how he is. I notice you didn't list his goalscoring record in england

Sounds a bit of a cock all right. I'm inclined to think it's probably best to steer clear, although he must have something about him. His last club seemed quite happy with him. Going by the response on here though I though he was a woman beater or a rapist or something. Didn't realise he's just a gobby prick

4 from 12 R&D 5 from 20 Wycombe 5 from 33 Franchise. Benyon has an arguably better return (39 from 125). Plus Macari thinks he's a waster (paraphrased obviously). Good enough for me

His more recent history in the English game would suggest he'd be good for a handful of goals before he moved on (at most) a year later.
