Absolutely is a big deal as far as I'm concerned (if true). A further indictment on how poor our business dealings in the transfer market are & likely an indicator of how it will continue to be under this lot.
Apparently we were quite desperate to get him off the wage bill, no fee I can sort of understand but no sell on just isnt right a player who is still only 25.

Jamie Russell pulling our pants down then....he signed Longelo so knows what deal he is on and what our wage commitments are like.
Surprised if there are no clauses - thought this was standard at this level, but then who is negotiating his exit ? not really Holloway's job

While wages saved is clearly one aspect, other people around the club make money every time a player is moved in or out, regardless of any transfer fees involved. Standing waved the Clem deal through despite claiming he was owed a few million, ever since which we have shipped 20+ players in and out a season.

This needs unpacking. Is the suggestion that Standing benefits every time there’s a transfer (irrespective of transfer fees involved)? If so, how?

Agents get paid to some degree every time a player joins, leaves or renews a contract.
Standing used to be an agent and obviously isn't any more, but presumably at least knows a few people in the trade.

That is the club paying a finders fee, those are the tip. The agent will be earning a % of each contract the player signs directly from the player.

I am suggesting a potential way an agent may make money by trading players regularly - they earn some money from the clubs involved, but they certainly earn money from the player on the signing of any contracts. If you can get a player shipped around regularly, I'd imagine an agent stands to gain a bit in that. It's not the original plan - which was clearly to recoup big sums on transfer fees the club made, or sell on clauses (like Ritchie & Twine - and there was one on the books when they took over that was being touted as big future earner, which is why they were likely interested in the first place). But when you have been stitched up, it's maybe a longer term steady earner that pays you back - why else wave the deal for Clem to takeover through if you believe you have a rock solid case on half ownership of the club and are owed several million, and have the legal right to block any sale.

Really? that doesnt make any sense business wise. Oh I forgot we arent run well enough to be considered a business are we.
Hopefully it means Clem and co don't expect to be around long enough to see any benefit of a sell on. But we're not that lucky.
