Giving an ageing manager, (who was out of work for 4 years since working for a club relegated out of the EFL) that is on a 6 month contact himself, full handling of a January transfer window is mental.

If he gets rid of players that our next manager could suit and use doesn't make sense. I understand shorterm this season is priority but surely all in and outs will be loan deals due to the above. Then again that would be asking for future planning

Hopefully Ian Holloway will be the next long term manager.
Can't understand all the negative feelings on here against him.

A few reasons:

From his own mouth "my scouting network was not suited to operate at League Two level"

"If you don’t like me or the club or what we are doing then don’t come"

The grimsby: Investment. Director. Didn't actually invest. Resigned. Comes across very Clem like

"Orange hats protest is a nonsense and people only wearing them as they are cold"

"Swindon has one of the best club structures I have seen at any club I have worked at previously"

Hes got character and 10 years ago it would have been an exciting appointment and I will also add I think he will keep us up. But to not see any reason why fans may have negative feelings about him, that's just a bit weird. A bit like a few of your rants on here recently.

Agreed - we need to move on from a new manager every 6 months, it’s part of the problem.

Fun fact he’s the same age as Jose Mourinho and just four years older the Jurgen Klopp.

Fun fact 2 he hasn’t been out of work for four years - just chosen not to manage. Irrespective he has 6 months to prove he can still manage.

Ff3 he wasn’t manager of Grimsby when they were relegated and he has two promotions to the premiership on his cv.

Ff4 you sound a tiny bit ageist.

He resigned from Grimsby 23rd Dec 2020. That was 3 years 10 months between taking Swindon. Apologies for saying 4 years. When someone doesn't have a job that means they are out of work. He was rejected by Motherwell after interviews in 2023.

I didn't mention Grimsby relegation, I mentioned the lies and controversy of his Grimsby investment.

Your right. I don't believe you can build a long term club vision with a old manager. IH and Steve Bruce are the only managers in the EFL 92 that are over 60. Maybe the chairmen of these clubs are ageist as well.

Thanks for the fun facts

Agreed he’s not everyone’s choice but Clem’s had 4 summers at Swindon and we’ve had a new manager at the start of each season. A bit of consistency would be nice and the constant change of management will be a big reason to the huge turnover of players each season.

I think Holloway is exactly what we need right now.
Experience & motivation. Proverbial shot in the arm.

Not sure he’s got enough in the locker past experience & motivate to take us forward.

We to need some management stability on the football side of things but don’t think that’s for Holloway - won’t work until we have a clean sweep as well. Too many managers happy with the back room staff already here…

I have a feeling that James Collins might end up back here. I don’t know why.
