Are we still allowed loans. Bit concerning with the GK situation.

What happen to Archie Mathews? That was a done deal wasn't it?

Deal collapsed - not sure why but perhaps we decided to push the boat out with the 3 signings we made and go down the emergency keeper route should anything happen to Bycroft.

Of course every signing is a 'risk' and there is an element of added risk with ours given injury histories - Glatzel for instance.

I think Drinan is an interesting one and takes the weight off of Charlie, but Orient fans have said he's best in a 2. This allows us to go 4-4-2, and might be quite refreshing to see something a bit different after Flynn's regimented way of playing.

McGurk i'm most excited about. Looking at his picture on the website, to me he doesn't look like a pro footballer but the Leeds feedback suggests the kid is good. I noticed he had 4 goals and 3 assists for Leeds in their academy games. I have a feeling he might be a bit good.

I'm going to be all cynical about McKirdy, I think this signing was a bit of a PR play by the club/Clem. Obviously he needs game time after his operation and we don't really have much to lose, we aren't going down and need to end the season really really well to be in the promotion shake up so I can see why we did it. He's a massive character amongst a lot of younger players, perhaps it will be a catalyst, perhaps he'll just irritate everyone. I can see Charlie getting irritated with him not squaring the ball from a tight angle for instance and it kicking off a bit. We'll see.

I'm well able to separate the way the club is being run to what's happening on the field etc and so you have to give Clem and co kudos for addressing the skeleton squad. In fact I like the signings of Johnson and McGurk as these are potentially players we can build around going forward, so there does kind of seem an element of forward planning. Drinan is likely to be the replacement for Charlie next season for instance. I think there is a buzz about the place now (which won't last forever) and Newport tomorrow should be rocking.

One thing I've missed since McKirdy left us is having a player who motivates the crowd etc.

Leeds mate reckons McGurk is a great box to box player with an eye for a strike but maybe lightweight for L2.

Someone once said that signing players is nothing like FM, but in a recent save a bought McGurk and he did really well, transformed my team, but buggered off to a 'bigger' team first chance he could. Read into that what you will

Given the second part will happen, let's hope there first part does.

Fairly happy with the deadline day signings.

Harry coming back to get fit is a ploy by Clem to get fans back on his side, or to strengthen the Clem fans boasts about him being the right owner. But if he comes back and can get fit he is no doubt an absolutely livewire at times and so unpredictable but with a finish on him, unlike RHM.

Drinnan seems to be rated as one of the poorest players ever at Orient yet scored a hattrick vs Hartlepool....

Doesnt look THAT shit to me TBH, maybe L1 was a step too high for him, my issue is that hes been injured most of this season.

McGurk on paper looks a great little signing, similar build to Kemp or Payne and a play anywhere accross attacking midfield/winger/number 10. Leeds fans are surprised we signed him and almost to a man think he will be a good player in the near future with several on their forum stating that a move on laon yesterday to a L1 club should be the goal yet we managed to grab him.

Sounds an exciting goal scoring attack minded midfielder and close to a swap for Kemp it would appear, just dont let him take a penalty apparently.

My only couple of issues with the window was the lack of signing a goalkeeper as backup/challenging 1st team, another right back to backup Dokes as Genesini seems to have upset the management, a good solid holding midfielder as I hoped we might offload McEachran +AN other in the window and also that we had space for another 4 loan slots to be filled (at minimum 1 more to fill the matchday allocation of available loans).

Otherwise yes not too bad a January window when you add in McCarthy, Johnson, Glatzel, Bycroft, Devoy and ElBow.
