I wonder if the plan for Minturn is a season long loan to Conference, which may go through once we sign an experienced RCB.

Axis is a publicly traded company right? Would imagine the shareholders would not be delighted if the cost of those staff wasn't on STFC.

I'm pretty sure it isn't, we wouldn't have had all the rigmarole around Clem's wealth and the Trust doing due diligence, if it was a publicly listed company. The company value and profit/revenues would be easily obtainable.

yeah me too.  If its experienced CB then fair enough.

I do wonder if Minturn is "ready" for a full season mind.

Hopefully having someone now with the responsibility to get loans sorted if Minturn isn't playing here he will get game time somewhere else at a decent level this season to see if he has it.

Not sure what the active Axis UK company is, there was all that hoo ha about the restructuring previously and looking at CH neither of the ones listed seem to be doing a great deal?

However, it makes perfect sense if he ha more than one company operating to make use of rear of house facilities to avoid overlap and duplicating costs, it could almost be called a way of achieving and efficiency saving!  Cheesy Wink

I suppose we have the same squad as the final game of the season (Williams, Iandolo, and Tomlinson were all injured and Mahoney for Brynn looks a straight swap). There's still time for signings but it does concern me as we did look 3/4 players short at the end of the season. Perhaps Flynn can get a tune out of the current squad and try things other managers haven't (Lavinier at RCB) but it does look like time is running out for us to hit the ground running in August.

I'm slightly concerned that time is ticking along and we have only signed a keeper, it would be good for new players to play in pre season to get their match fitness up and get used to the rest of the squad.

Lets hope Flynn has a plan rather than play wait and see, as a fairly experienced manager you would expect so, I'd suggest we need at least 6 permanent and to then bolster that with 2 or 3 loans, maybe the experienced players we want need an extra holiday and that is the hold up though.

FWIW this is what Flynn said about things on Monday.

https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/23643980.swindon-towns-second-signing-almost-done-says-michael-flynn/

does he normally do a press conference towards the end of the week? (not sure how often these things are done during pre-season) If so, perhaps more will come out about potential signings and/or what has happened re players that maybe haven't signed for us, for whatever reason(s).

No arranged press conferences in pre season. They are just ad hoc as required. With no proper friendly until next Tuesday i dont expect to hear from him before then. Unless we sign a player of course.

Ah cheers Riddick. Case of wait and see then.

I’m reasonably happy with who we have on our books at the moment and I’d rather we waited to get the right people in than signed dross who we are then stuck with.

That said, there does seem to be a worrying trend this calendar year of not being able to get deals done. Clearly it was an issue in the January window, then with free agents (Mariappa etc) and now in pre season.

Who knows how many we’ve actually been in for but there’s enough of a pattern to suspect that there may be an issue here, either in terms of financial offering or administrative agility.
