What is the benefit to leaking stories to a bloke on twitter? That Ryan Whelan and the RealEFL only have 3k twitter followers each.

Do the club or someone related to the club think it is what fans want to see? I would say it has done more harm than good this year as he always breaks stories as gospel that don't happen.

can't blame Ryan Whelan for writing what he's told. He's not the BBC looking for 2 verifiable sources.

I don't mind myself, if we wait for official PR we'll sign Maurice Owen next week.

No, and I get it is his job. I just don’t get why he is the chosen one for our gossip.

Almost like we are feeding him to help him springboard his career.

I wouldn't big us up too much, getting scoops on an underperforming, mid-rable, 4th division teams isn't exactly a journalists dream.

That article could easily have come from players agent to pimp him about.

Sell Hutton on, I like him but if his heart isn't in it there's no point. Not sure he's cut out for a high-end League 1 side, tidy player but gets beat too much defensively and his crossing is erratic. I think Lavinier has more potential at RB than him tbh

I think Hutton looks loads better in a team that plays with big lads up top and has some attacking threat down the left too. As it is, he gets doubled up on because we've really not threatened down the left hand side much at all this season.

But generally agree that Lavinier fits the squad and style we have better. Sturrock would have loved Hutton.

I think we should sell Hutton in the summer then spend next season moaning about his replacement.

Reminds me of a poor man's Nicky Summerbee. Gets in the occasional brilliant first time cross, but the rest of his game needs work to be a top L1 player or above.

If it were the BBC he would need two sources, one saying that 7 club are looking at Hutton and another (who probably has nothing to do with Football but is high profile on SM) saying that there are not 7 players looking at Hutton.

I wouldn't big us up too much, getting scoops on an underperforming, mid-rable, 4th division teams isn't exactly a journalists dream.

This is it, football media has changed hugely in recent years at our pissy level, the local paper only seem to do it as a begrudging side thought, don't seem to have any feet on the ground (isn't it all done from Oxford or somewhere) and the BBC seem very similar.

Bluntly, there are probably only c.15-20k people in the world who give a shite what's happening at Swindon Town and for most outlets its not worth the cost or ballache, especially as clubs now engage directly with fans via the interweb, no need for Club Call these days.

This Whelan guy does seem to have contacts (he also seems particularly interested in Swindon - is he a fan or something?) and some of his stuff is good. However, he was royally miles from the mark several times over the manager thing so I must confess I take it all with a pinch of sale these days.

Whelan isn't a town fan, he's from Scotland I think. He ends up covering us more as he's had a lot of scoops and ends up getting questions from fans.

And he has someone in the club who is leaking the news. I am not sure he has been chosen to be fair

Jesse Debrah. 22 year old 6'3 CB from Halifax. Highly rated and came through Millwall's academy. Out of contract in the summer and being courted by a lot of clubs. Believe he had a move fall through to Huddersfield last summer. Courtesy of our old friend Nixon.
