Your imagination?

I don't think anybody here has made that claim. But Wellens has said in the past that he did not want Doyle working too hard - you'd need to take it up with Wellens if you don't agree with what he says.
No I think what Wellens said has been misinterpreted. As Riddick points out, he said he didn't want Doyle working too hard outside the box and getting involved in the build up play. Out of possession was completely different, Doyle was always chasing defenders and putting them under pressure and I'd imagine any future striker will need to do the same as Wellens seems to be of the Guardiola mentality where you win the ball back as quickly and high up the pitch as possible.

I think the shape Caddis appears to be in then at least Pitman will have someone to run with! :-)

Caddis is a funny one, I finally watched the Coventry game the other night and whiolst he was carrying lumber he also kept popping up in the right places.

Yup. There's a difference between just "working hard" and working hard in the right place at the right time. (Not to mention working hard to *be* in the right place at the right time which is 90% of what a good striker does)

It still disappoints me that many Swindon fans love to write a player off before they have even signed for us. But its always been like that so its no surprise.

I am confident that Wellens knows his targets and I have faith he will sign whatever player fits that jigsaw peice, whether we as fans agree or not, he is the boss.

The reasonable fans, who are in the majority, tend to wait to pass judgement. The vocal ones on social media - particularly Facebook- imo fall in to 2 categories (1) those who dont go to games with a proportion supporting premiership teams from the comfort of their armchairs and (2) those who attend games and likely moan at the players for a large part of the game, also berating Power and comparing the current crop to the Macari/Ardilles and Hoddle years.  Agree with you PV in that Wellens has a pretty good track record when it comes to recruitment.

Yeah absolutely.

The ones that have the strongest opinions often have the loudest voice on social media, the vast majority of posters on here though are not of the knee jerk style and almost all are reasoned in their opinions.

Someone on one of the Facebook pages recon we are after Jayden Stockley! Cheesy

Yes a striker in contract at a highly placed Championship team who cost them £750k just over a year ago and who played in 3/4 of their games last season.

Thats going to happen for sure!  Roll Eyes

Get that. I’m almost annoyed at myself for being underwhelmed. I think it’s his recent record. Done nothing at this level the last two seasons.

Hope I’m wrong.

I can see why Pitman may get some question marks, because he has that "look" associated with players who get tagged for being unfit, lazy etc.

However, ignoring Pitman, if you are expecting us to sign a striker who has done "something" at this level for two seasons, I think you might be waiting a while.  Anyone with that record will be worth money or gone already.  The likelihood is we get someone who has misfired at this level or higher, or has shown great promise in an Academy above us or a league below us.

Nixon has just said that Pitman signing on a full time contract is imminent.  He had hoped it would keep until the Sunday paper, but says it will happen sooner. Watch this space, I think! Smiley

I assume he's checked out of the hotel after yesterday's speculation 😀

I think the TEF shows that it’s perfectly possible to be both shouty cunts and reasoned posters.  It keeps the forum interesting, but also means that some really good points and opinions get aired and discussed. Clap

He could be training at Calne as we type!  Is it possible we might see a cameo appearance tomorrow?
No second club involved, so signing should be a speedy process.
