I think their will be a forward next week maybe. But we will see the more attacking players will come after the 1st after contracts have expired.

Could be the player Wellens alluded to being able to fill in in both fullback positions.

Was released by Oldham on Friday.

Oldham fans on Rob Hunt.

Quote
Best for all concerned.  Desperately poor for most of last season.

Not sure that is entirely fair treated poorly by the club and I bet he ends up playing at a higher level

Higher? League 1 at absolute best IF he pulls his finger out.  Bang average league 2 player based on last season. Not sure he was happy in the North to be fair to him.

Ive no idea what the mutual termination is, but surely as a young player he was a sellable asset?! These sort of decisions are always bizarre to me. Sure there was some interest in January in him?

So, we keep him and pay a (presumably) large wage, or agree a settlement to end the contract early. Not surprised.

Didn't Lincoln want him in January? Then there was was some (alleged) shenanigans between our glorious leader and Hunt's agent, which pretty much ended his chances here. If that's true and that's how he was treated, no wonder his form dipped. He couldn't have been a happy camper.

Yep. His agent was touting him around for a move. AL got wind of it and stopped managers from playing him. Could have carried on playing him and sold him on, now we've had to release him and cost us more.

Profoundly average player

Quite liked Hunt early days thinking he was playing out of position on the left but he didn't push on when played on the right and you didn't need to be Mystic Meg to see this happening. Don't know if it was just a clash of personalities with the owner ( which would obviously be the favourite excuse ) or that he lacked a bit of character to ignore his dispute and perform on the pitch when selected.  Whatever the reason he had a poor season overall and has been a major disappointment.

Didn't work out for all concerned but wouldn't be surprised to see him performing well in League 1 or 2 next season.

Seen it all before. Will play at a higher level

Expect him to tip up at Swindon..

I was about to post didn't Wellens always big him up

Great bit of business from our leader. Could have gone to Lincoln for a fee in January, instead gets frozen out of the side till the end of the season, then we release him

Hunt was excellent when we had him on loan. A big disappointment when we signed him permanently and particularly poor last season - too lightweight. Been one of his biggest critics of late but I do actually think he's better than this league (he showed he was when on loan). As someone else has said, maybe he hasn't settled up north - such things can throw people off their game. A good move for both parties.

Mistake this imo

Since end of Jan played in 11 matches, 2 of which were less than 10 mins-was sub in 6 matches. Hardly strong evidence that he will be missed-plus when he played he wasn't very good was he?

Some quite mixed reviews on him.

Very mixed bag but he and the gaffer will know all about each other. Trust Wellens if he thinks he can do a job.

Had Preston and Brighton sniffing around him last year.

Reckon this could be a real good signing playing under the right manager

As Hans says, Wellens obviously rates him so if he gets on well with the player this could be a goer.

We need a fullback who can fill in on both sides, is primarily a right back, Lincoln also after fullbacks and they have had a bid for him rejected in January...could have a fight on our hands if we do pursue him, but apparently he wants to return to the South after starting his career at Brighton.

I’m getting really excited about this coming campaign.

I have the feeling that Wellens, Hunt & Jewel have been as busy behind the scenes if not busier than on the field since the beginning of the year. I cannot shake the notion that they knew we were not strong enough to go up and started this coming seasons squad recruitment months ago.

I dream of a start like Poyet & Wise gave us. Maybe we could be this divisions team of invincibles. P46 W? D? L0

It’s been a decent start.

Think our defence looks improved but not sure we have enough guile, creativity or goals in our squad...yet...

As DV says strikers and creators now please, then I may allow a bit of excitement to creep in for the upcoming campaign.

I think defenders are a bit easier to find and sign - there are more of them available.

If, and I think we are, looking at the best we can get for our money in the striker department it is much more difficult - loads of clubs chasing fewer players.

I honestly don’t think Doyle is feasible - or, indeed, needed - with Yates we need to complement him with an Obika type.

We still have Woolery who I think will still come good. Get Bennett back on a perm, a young loanee striker and if Dave isn’t going to be the DM, get one of them.

Nearly done.

seems to me so far we have (or been linked with) a number of players that have had previously been rated, but for one reason or another haven't fulfilled their potential.

if Wellens can unlock it we will be in for a good season.

Still missing a few essential attacking players though

I think you are pretty much spot on with that.

Not sure how likely Bennett is as hes one of the higher earners at Rovers even if he likes us and we like him it depends on termination of his contract and his wages. May be a chance of another loan with us covering a portion of his wages as he has stated he doesn't want to be at Rovers.

Been told he’s not in the manager’s plans, too.

If Rovers can offer him a decent termination of contract sum, he’d probably accept a 50% pay cut with us.

I think it was either him or Devitt.
