Hard to say as haven’t seen any of the new players and responses from previous clubs are so mixed. What is good though is that most of the first team squad is assembled before pre season training so hopefully more time to gel as a team and get a good work ethic set.
Fitness would be the doubt with that outfit... I guess it's inevitable that in order to get a bit more quality Wellens is having to gamble on fitness... the likes of Rose, Baudry and Fryers didn't play a lot last year. We also know that pre/early season is often a time for injuries, which can scupper the best laid plan.

See Portsmouth interested in Ched Evans. Would maybe free up Brett Pitman . 31 YO striker?

Exactly this. Getting our squad together earlier with achievable targets is pretty good by out standards. None of the signings have landed firmly on the side of 'brilliant', or of 'WTF are they thinking'. just a bit unknown really. Just got to hope Wellens and Jewell know what they are doing, and that the players that have shown lost potential can regain it! Anyway, its all still a work in progress isn't it.

..............McCormick Reid. Broadbent Baudry Fryers Rose May Woolery Doughty Anderson Yates
This is the side we can seemingly put out as it stands, is that an improvement on last season?
Much of a muchness. Rather than Theo Robinson we have Jerry Yates. Yates could hit the ground running and be better than Robinson or he might be a downgrade. Need to upgrade Woolrey & Anderson.

So another one who's contract runs out at the end of the year. With both May and Yates, if we get promotion I think they may stay here. Big if and a big hope if they hit the ground running. Optimistic and all that, but actually looking forward to see these guys play.
Tad annoyed I live in London now though. More away games for me it seems.

I would be inclined to agree with this, the question is at what stage do you cut your losses with 'potential' never being achieved?

For me Anderson has never lived up to his hype and can go... Woolery has been troubled a bit by injury and us not playing to his strengths , Would give Him another Season to click.....

I like and would keep them both, but particularly KW. He was possibly our best player in the last third of last season when he got fit.

You’d think that when signing a player on a permanent or season long deal especially, that the club would have a comprehensive medical dossier and that the player in question would have had to pass a strenuous fitness test. A player who has not played many games in the past season (not withstanding an injury) would still have the required skill level and value to the new team and it could also be argued as being fresher than someone who say played 50+ games. That said we should have by Monday as stated by RW in today’s thinking mans Beano the bulk of the squad. Preseason once each players fitness has been assessed means they will have their own training and fitness plan upto a point in time where they all come together at the required level by the manager to then start to work on tactics and formations, then promotion 🏆

Devitt officially joins Blackpool. No real surprise tbh. Higher league, up north and probably more money. Move on
