See the Adver are on the Murray specultion

http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/display.var.2313509.0.murray_is_town_target.php

Quote

SCOTT Murray is at the centre of a possible Town transfer raid on M4 rivals Bristol City - while Maurice Malpas prepares to make a Championship full-back his first summer signing.

County Ground chief Malpas is confident of securing the services of an unnamed player under contract at a Championship club in the next couple of days but has also contacted Town's Ashton Gate neighbours about several targets.

Malpas revealed winger Murray is one of those he is currently keeping tabs on but admitted there were "one or two others" at their West Country rivals he has also enquired about.

Brian Wilson, Jennison Myrie-Williams and Alex Russell have been touted as potential targets but, while keeping his own counsel, Malpas insisted winger Kevin Betsy was not on his wanted list.

Scottish winger Murray, 34, has been offered a year's contract extension by City boss Gary Johnson but could be tempted by a more secure offer elsewhere.

He is currently mulling over his options on holiday but Malpas admits he will be keeping track of any developments over the coming weeks.

He said: "I have spoken to Bristol City about one or two of his players and Scott Murray is one of them.

"He has been offered another year at Bristol though as far as I am aware so that might end that.

"He is away on his holidays so I will just be keeping in touch with that one.

"It would be ideal if we could get players with some Championship experience in.

"Scott Murray does fit the bill on that one but it is more important they can do a job for us."

While any capture of Murray remains a work in progress', Malpas did reveal his full-back shortage was about to be halved.

With Jack Smith and Jamie Vincent the only recognised full backs on the books for next season, Malpas has made no secret of his desire for two more options in that area.

He said: "Everything is pretty much sorted between us and the full back in question.

"We just need to go back to his club and check it is all okay now."

To be fair Batch as they've got an actual quote from Malpas saying he has asked about Murray it's more than speculation.

I mean the Adver are covering the previous message board speculation. I'm not having a pop at the Adver (though it's nice of you to stick up for Cryer, but he's a big boy now Smiley )

Who's this full back we're going to sign then? From a Championship club?

Nicky Shorey wouldn't be too bad I suppose.

Why does that matter? Full back we're after is under contract.

Adrian Mariappa was mentioned in another thread. Never seen him before but he sounds decent enough

Wasn't he the player who took an awful dip in front of us at Cheltenham? I personally think he comes in and out of games and didn't do a great deal but hey ho

Indeed, he was then later denied a clear penalty and booked for diving Cheesy
