We've already bid for Moncur, so I don't think there is any way we wont bid on others.

I can't see the whole amount being reinvested in the team. Mainly this would probably be because whatever the reported fee wouldn't necessarily be received in one lump sum.
However, to appease some of the LP doubters (I'm not suggesting you are, Rusty) it wouldn't be a bad thing if a decent wedge of the fee was at least used to make a realistic offer for a new player, especially if the perception is that the club is now being run in a much more sustainable way.
But any offers we make will also be paid instalments if accepted. Works both ways.

I agree, I'm sure bids will be made for others. However, I think we can expect more bids that are deemed derisory rather than anywhere near meeting the selling club's expectations. I'm not confident that LP will attempt to buy anyone at a price that a club 'can't refuse'.

True that. But the greater the up-front payment, the more attractive it is to the selling team and the greater prospect of a transfer being done, especially if there are other clubs competing for the same player. Hopefully, Power would be willing to do that for a, say, £250,000 rated player. I think the Goddard deal shows that STFC can compete for desirable players at that level, but I think there are still a fair few who are convinced he can spend a decent wedge for a 'name'.

Ajose has more than once publicly praised Luke Williams and his coaching methods. You only have to look at the stats to see that his appearance record and goal scoring return here is vastly better than elsewhere during his career. So, yes no doubt if enough cash is offered he will be off, but if it doesn't (yet again) work out I would fully expect a County Ground return. Both from a perspective of his wage demands, and our bank balance this is probably the optimum time to sell. Yes 25 goals will be pretty hard to replace, but we have said the same with Super Sam, Coxy, Charlie Austin and Andy Williams too.

What it does show is just how ordinary it is in our league for high player turnover these days - we are seeing other clubs have just as many leavers and joiners.

Barnsley had a bid for Town target George Moncur turned down yesterday of £400k according to Sky Sports.
I doubt we will match that bid or better it.
I also heard that Barnsley were one of the teams interested in Ajose.

Weird thing is we could actually offer less and get him

I am not so sure mate, breaking news is that Col U accpeted a bid of £500k for Moncur from Barnsley...Bristol City also bidding.
11:22am Transfer Centre Live @TransferCentreL Colchester United have accepted a bid worth in the region of £550,000 from Barnsley for midfielder George Moncur.

Yeah that's a bit different then. My initial point was the way we work we could probably offer less but the sell on be double for example what Barnsley would offer. But if they have increased it then so be it
