Right. He's missing the point. They, as us, have a valuable asset in the last year of their contract. If they don't sell soon(ish) they'll get fuck all. Makes no odds if they are a 'financially stable, well-run club with no debts', the longer they don't sell the less they'll get. Same with us re Byrne |

Can anyone explain why players can't be persuaded to extend their contracts so their club gets some money when they go.

This and at our level, there's plenty of players out of contract every summer. The chances of Wes getting that move, over a keeper who's a free agent, if we were asking even 500k is hugely reduced. |
