Just had notification at work that the following cash points in Swindon have been done this week:
Asda - Barclays West Swindon Co-op - Eldene Asda Walmart - all 3 cash points Outlet Village - both the outside cash points
If you've used them it'll be worth cancelling your card and getting a new one. Better to be safe than sorry.

I reckon that starting rumours about tampered cash points could be the new sending emails about pretend viruses.
Not that I'm saying your info isn't true Sam. It probably is. I can just see a sudden craze for such things.

It is 100% true Ben, already asked that question to those who would know based on where the email originated.

Is that only this week....I use Asda periodically but probably not for about the last month or so ?
I always check cash points these days as isn't the trick that they put a false card reader in front of the original card reader and that skims the pin no as it is put in but if you take notice you can tell it is obviously sticking out that bit further ??

I used two of said cash points during the week. Money has come out that I asked for but nothing more- touch wood.
I always check the machine and see if anything is dodgy.

How would they mess with the ones at asda walmart :? It's only a little device that sits just in front of where you put your card in. I guess wait until it is quiet and pretend to take some money out. I'd have though the risk of being caught on CCTV is relatively high. But I guess they just put it on, get it back a couple of days later and move on to the next town.

There's no-one standing watching the cctv, it'll only be checked when a crime is reported and by then it's too late.

The above information is accurate I received it same as Sam from a banks fraud team. Me too. They put a false front onto where you put the card in (normally quite easy to spot if you pay close enough attention), then when you put it in the device inside copies the information off of the magnetric stripe on the card. If they're really clever then they'll have a little camera watching you type yer PIN in too. You'll get your card back at the end and be none the wiser.
