I reckon they look fucking ace. They look a bit plasticy in the pictures, but I think that's probably because they are ridiculously shiny and they're straight on so you can's see their thickness.

Any boring traditionalist types who are upset by change?

I like them if only because it upsets the Welsh - apparently they're not represented on the new coins. Well, try being a proper country first Cheesy

Apparently the designer was paid around £35,000. Not a great deal I suppose when you consider the cost of other designs, like the Olympic logo

It was a competition I though. Maybe I should read the actual article that I linked to.

I don't think it confirmed it in that article, but did in a number of newspaper reports.

Thats not too bad I suppose, but production costs must be huge


They won't do it by changing all the coins at once, they have to mint of new coins occasionally so when they do they'll just do the new ones.

The old ones will stay in circulation for ages whilst the new ones gradually become more and more common.

I think that's what they do. I'm no royal mint expert.
