This is expensive malaky! Going to see Stanton House tonight about the wedding breakfast and evening do. Costs about 9k! All in though for 70to 100 guests. Anyone know of any other good places to check out? On the plus side, I'm gonna get the A-team van to take me to the wedding.

Well ideally looking at the swindon area JFW. Not too far out. Was also considering the 4 pillars hotel at cotswold water park but I've heard bad reports about that.

I keep meaning to go to the Cotswold water park hotel - we have been invited lots as we put alot of business into one of there other propertys but we just havent made it over there yet
I propose it alot to clients but Ive not booked anything there yet - It looks stunning - and its a good location
Stanton house looks lovely too
Im going to a wedding fair on Sunday with my bosses to steal some ideas - so Ill keep my eye out

Go abroad, your family will understand.
Have a party when you get back. Much more fun and cheaper.

£9,000
We've got 80 for the wedding breakfast at Blunsdon House and that comes to around £2,500 - £3,000.

We did the church thing when we got back with all t'family. Did it late evening (6pm) so then went straight to evening do with buffet, no wedding breakfast to pay for then ;-)

Stanton House looked shit to me, also if you don't get married there they insist on you starting the wedding breakfast at 1430, way too early. Wasn't impressed with the restaurant or function room. Although the suite looks nice, lovely 4 poster, and a sofa that must have been christened a thousand times or more!
Try Cripps Barn near Cirencester I love the place but couldn't really handle the number of guests we wanted.
The Rectory in Crudwell's nice around £7K/£8k and that gives you exclusive use of hotel. Again another bad point about Stanton as they'd be other non-wedding guests there.
We're going for another place away from Swindon (in Wiltshire) which offers exclusive use of grounds etc again for around 8 or 9 grand.

I totally take your point on the exclusive use thing Jan
My friend got married at Grittleton House last summer and it was lovely and the food was delicious - but there was three other wedding parties going on in different rooms - some people were even going into different parties as they heard the bar queues were smaller.
Im not sure I would want to feel like I was in a wedding farm

Exactamundo!!
I want the whole place to ourselves. My (future) Mrs has told me since I posted my previous post that I've been a little over the top on my slagging off of Stanton, which is probably true. It just wasn't for us.

:? My missis has been looking at places to get married. Bit overpriced, I'm having second thoughts.
