put that with our record over the last eight games which is the worse than any other side in this division, then Gillingham could well be a six pointer. Actually up until 3pm today, the side with the worst record over the last eight was your apparent tough-battling favourites to beat the drop Gillingham: http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/oform.htmlBy the time they update it for today's results they'll have moved up that table a bit and we'll have moved down a bit, so it may appear to back up your slightly hysterical viewpoint a bit. Unless you fail (as you appear to be doing) to give any kind of weight to the quality of the teams played. Gillingham beating muff may help their stats, it won't save their season.

Well, yes dell, if you choose to ignore most of the post in much the same way you're ignoring most of the context to the games played and how the run-in will pan out. Then, yes you're right. :-))(

As regards talking about Sturrock.
For me because its part of our history. It makes us what we are. Whats the point in bothering with STFC at all if the past isnt important? Besides these are the managers we know about. The ones we watched week in week out, so of course Malpas will be compared to them.
Looks to me you lot would rather do a block ears manouvre and shout Im not listening. Honestly if you place no value in our history, then I cant see what the point of professional football is? It was fantastic to see the club do a romantic gesture today and rename the south stand. Weve been put through financial misery in the past, and as a result many of our fans are pragmatic in the extreme. We dont talk about our history enough.
Sturrock took us up so he achieved something. Which puts him head and shoulders above Wise, Iffy, King, Evans, Todd and Quinn. He was also a fantastic leader who united the whole club. Fair enough you want to get some positivity on Malpas (Id like to as well). But dont talk bollocks cos you'll just look like an idiot. Maybe we should compare every new manager with Macari, Ardiles and Hoddle as well then? I'm not saying ignore our history (Where did I say that?) I just think it's pointless comparing our new manager (Who's been here 5 minutes) with the previous one.

herthab wrote I'm not saying ignore our history
Historically, supporting STFC most seasons can be likened to a rollacoaster ride, pushing for promotion then fighting against relegation or vice versa. But isn`t that why most of us support STFC, success is not guaranteed. Give MM a chance i`m certain AF would not have appointed him if he had any doubts about his ability, seems to me that things are happening behind the scenes and prehaps some players are aware their time may be up come the summer. prediction lower mid table this season pushing for promotion next season dependant on finance available during this summer.

We were shocking today.
Looked pretty handy and dangerous for the first 10 minutes, then the defence fell apart and we started playing long balls up to Simon Cox. I lost count of the number of passes that went straight into touch, and on more than one occasion they would have set McNamee free down the wing. Brighton were okay but nothing special yet we barely troubled their keeper in the second half.
Oh, and the Whitdean is the crappest, coldest ground ever. FACT Hopefully we'll play them at some awkward time next season when I can't make it, assuming (quite rightly) that they don't go up!

Awful ground and Cold Coffee as well. We could of have 2-0 nil after 10 minutes. But after Forster scored his 1st we crumbled. Mcgovern was wasted in the middle and was awful. Easton needs to be restored into the middle of midfield. He is ineffectual on the right hand side.

They were good enough though to beat Walsall, Leyton Orient, Brighton and thats something we couldn't achieve, they also gave Notts Forest a 3-0 thrashing this season. Funny old game football!! I don't like Gillingham, but I think they will survive the drop, perm any one from six who might join the three doomed sides, and if we carry on with our current form of 5 points in the last 8 games, it could most definitely be us.
