And to the other side of me was a bunch of people slagging off Ashikodi for not marking or trying! He came on, didnt stop running for 15-20 minutes -

Sorry but that is bollocks. It looked a half assed effort on his part but on reflection he may have been injured.

Thats fair enough and there were a couple of occasions where i would have expected another player to go whole heartedly. What annoyed me though was the fact that he was the only striker at the end, and everytime their full back passed it to another defender, people were getting on his back for not marking that player!

Well that's a fair point.

What wound me up was the lack of closing down when up against a single defender. He only had to last 15-20 mins and whilst he has looked pretty dodgy quality wise, the one thing he is good at is running!

Hey ho, I think I lost my temper stfc_dave style tonight. I blame the ref.

I think Moses' best quality is probably his time wasting methods.

There was the "ref, this ball is flat" incident v Swansea, and now the "I'm going to go over to the left wing" manoeuvre tonight when about to be substituted.

Moses was probably put on to chase down every ball and he didn't. Malpas subbed him to waste time thought which i thought was a masterstroke.

In a way I'm glad Vincent got injured, as it allowed McNamee the room to deliver some brilliant crosses and use his skill to beat one man and not have to beat two.

Was a gutsy performance. Huddersfield were a poor team, looked to get the ball in the air and get a knock down a lot - they had some big players. We just about managed to cope.

Going down to 9 men - other players could have lost their heads. None did. We stuck it out and it's the first time I've seen in ages where we have managed it.

Those who slated Malpas' substitutions are fools. Paynter held the ball up one day. We are 2 goals ahead - you keep him on and have to sacrifice the other smaller striker. That's just the way football is played.

I think J Smith did well to come in and do ok.

Ifil looked a tad shakey to me again though....

Malpas didn't do too bad today.. Paynter was already getting fucked off with the ref. I would have left Cox on and taken Paynter off. It was almost inevitable Billy would be sent off but then again I'm not the manager so... Sturrock and Cox up front on Tuesday then?

Paynter will be suspended for two games. One for deliberate hand-ball which prevents a goal scoring opportunity and another match because he's already been sent off once.

So far this season that's Ifil, Zaaboub, Corr, Paynter and Paynter [sic] that have been sent off. All straight reds as well IIRC?

McNamee had a superb first half. The Minge had an interesting game at left back - played pretty well but fucked up a couple of times in the first half and fell over the ball in the second. Jack Smith played well as did Aljofree. Phil Smith wasn't very impressive at all - his punching and kicking were weak and he went walkies for their second penalty. Allen loked really useful and with this season effectvely over, I'd like to see him given a long run. Easton looked more comfortable and Peacs looked good until his sending off. From where I was I thuoght it was a yellow but some other lads said he went well over the top and deserved it. Cox had a decent game as did Paynter before his stupid sending off.
Overall a decent nights entertainment.

A word for Smith - yes he looked shakey and I had my heart in my mouth a couple of times. But he also pulled off at least two point-blank saves that kept us in it when down to 9 men. So instead of saying what he DID do with those saves, there's people (not really on here but texting in to radio and doubtless on thisis) having a go for what he MIGHT have done. Hell's teeth, he's obviously low on confidence but it seems some people are determined to break the lad.
