ENTREPRENEUR Andrew Black, co-founder of online betting exchange Betfair, has confirmed he is a member of the consortium that now controls Swindon Town.
As first mentioned in the Swindon Advertiser on January 12, 44-year-old Black is one of four consortium members of Swindon Town Holdings Limited, with the others being chairman Andrew Fitton, Jeremy Wray and Sir Martyn Arbib.
Black, who co-founded Betfair with Wray's brother Ed, told his online blog: "Andrew Fitton takes the lead with Jeremy Wray playing a strong supporting role.

"The team has had a decent run of results of late and I think we've got a very respectable chance of making the play-offs."
Black has been reluctant to have his identity revealed over the last few weeks but the confirmation of his involvement was revealed on the Swindon Advertiser's fans forum late last night.
Black is worth an estimated two hundred million pounds after turning his company into the country's leading online betting firm.

I was sooooooooo bored, I wanted to spend some time doing a bit of investigation about the other member of the takeover.
Mr Fitton has already stated that it is made up of at least 3 individuals....
Mr Fitton himself
Mr Jeremy Wray
and at least one other....last week he said one of the members of the consortium was a local man, with sports connections and worth several hundred million pounds.
Mr Fitton denied vehemently that Edward Wray (co founder of betfair) was involved in any way.
So I had a search (as one does!) and have put several clues together and am sure that I know who he is.
Mr Jeremy Wray's best friend is a man called Andrew Black, this Andrew Black lives locally in Gloucestershire, this Andrew Black is worth in excess of £200,000,000 and Mr Andrew Black is the other co-founder of none other than Betfair!
Mr Fitton only said that Edward Wray was not involved in the takeover.
I may be wide of the mark but hey, I was bored and putting several 2 and 2's together.
Well it took my mind off the club for an hour or so and kept me out of the way of the missus while she was cooking Sunday dinner!

On the OS, Black has been appionted a director whos main duties will be looking at sales & marketing and t'internet.
A good starting point for the internet would be a club shop that actually sold stuff online in a coherant, professional manner

I'm emotionally torn, I'm delighted that the club is seemingly being run in a correct way, we are richer than several African nations and we got our cox in. However I've just been reminded that Sutton's met KR and I haven't, despite being in the same boozer on one occasion, it's a regret I'll take to my grave..
